The last hours together.

Elijah wanted to spend his time with Roderick rather than impress the Knights.

Elijah slept in Roderick's bed that night.

He followed Roderick religiously.

The Knights would come soon and Elijah couldn't think of anything else. All he wanted was to be with Roderick.

I swear he was crying at one point. Only girls cry.

We ate breakfast which was provided by the butcher Elijah knew.

He greeted Elijah and was sorry that Elijah was so sad.

Elijah made Roderick swear to visit, swear to find him if he were adopted someday too.

Roderick swore of course. Roderick was helpless on his own.

Elijah promised one day he'd be his guard like the Teutonic Knights were guarding the nobles now.

The nobles were still here sadly. They wanted to spend the day with their new "son". Though Roderick acted more like a girl to me.

Roderick drew a picture for Elijah and Elijah clung to it once separated from him to line up in the courtyard.

The Knights were searching for boys to train. They'd been many places so far and gathered many hopeful talents but they had yet to see my awesome skills.

"Elijah you need to lighten up or you von't do good showing off."

"Who cares..." he mumbled.

What!? "I care! Vhis is our dream remember!? So vhat if Roderick is leaving, a bunch more people vill be leaving too, and vithout you if you don't step up."

"Leave me alone."

What the hell?

Elijah, man up, what's going on? It's just Roderick, the submissive annoying stuck up pianist. No one even likes him?

I sighed.

I couldn't just give up on Elijah, I'd have to talk him up or something because he may not even perform at this rate.

Did we even have to perform? Was there a test?

Silence fell over us as the leader amongst the Knights who'd come with the nobles entered the courtyard.

Everyone stood up straight.

Boys six to fourteen were eager to please the men from legends. They got to explore the world, they were famous and they were doing god's work. What better way to spend one's life?

Elijah was still depressed but paid attention and showed respect at the very least.

Those in the courtyard stood in line tallest to shortest calling our names when asked.

Conrad, Dagobert, Wendel, Erhart, Wedekind, Burkhard, Albert, Kordt, Egmund, Farald, Leopold, Helmut, Dieter, Elijah, Gilbert, Claus, Claud, Utz, Adolar, Zsigmond, Igmar and lastly Karol.

I wish I were taller, it might improve my chances. Elijah was taller, he always seemed to one-up me in everything but looks and awesomeness.

The head knight began by preaching in which we kneeled to listen.

He then stated the rules. Then what it took to become a brother.

Years of studying, practice, fighting, and service.

So we could fight beforehand but that wasn't enough for me. I'd be a brother in arms. I'd be a Teutonic knight no matter what it took.

Hell, I'd even be a priest if I got to be with them.
