I SHUTMY PHONE OFF and put it in my pocket as i got out of my car. tonight my mom wanted to make spaghetti, but we didn't have any red sauce so she told me that on my way back from sage's house to pick some up.
i grabbed a cart and pushed it through the aisles of HEB. personally, i don't like HEB but my mom loves to get stuff from here so that's why i'm here.
i found the sauce aisle, and i started searching for the red sauce.
"can't believe they're out of pesto sauce!" someone said next to me.
i turned my head, and my eyes locked on a teenage boy who looked about my age staring at an empty shelf, where apparently pesto sauce used to sit.
"to be fair, pesto sauce is disgusting. maybe that's a sign you should get alfredo," i said to him. he heard my voice and looked towards me.
"alfredo sauce is too boring, it had to be pesto sauce."
"and what could you possibly want with pesto sauce?"
he paused and pressed his lips firmly together. he grinned and offered his hand. "i'm braylen."
"i'm mercy," i smiled back and shook his hand.
"what's your instagram?"
"mercy evan, but with two n's"
"okay, i'll follow you!"
he gave me a quick smile, and then he turned around and started to walk away. he walked a few steps then turned around.
"to be fair, i actually hate pesto sauce. i just needed an excuse to talk to a pretty girl," he gave me a smirk and then walked away again.
