"Kaw! Kaw! Head North! Head North! Your next mission is north!"

"Okay. Okay. Please keep it down. You're attracting too much attention." I said while trying to swat the bird out of my face.

"Kaw! Kaw! Head North! North!"

I took a huge deep breath and began my journey for the next mission. Two years have passed since that fateful day and ever since then I have to be more cautious than normal.

If I let my guard down, I'd end up being cornered by a herd of demons again.

It would hinder my quest and I hate how much it delays me so much.

Moreover, I am not a very sociable person. I hate crowds and being surrounded by people.

I don't even know why I became a demon slayer in the first place because it would inevitably force me to interact with other people.

Sometimes I wonder if I should just quit this job. It's too risky and dangerous. Not to mention the fact that it is unrecognized by the government.

But if I quit, it meant that I have to go back to that place.

On second thought, I'd rather keep this troublesome job than deal with that person.

As of now, I have finished my first mission after a long month of hiatus. Sanemi-kun is probably fuming at me for taking it too easy. I wonder about Giyuu though...

Would he ever look at me in the eye if we see each other again?

I immediately cleared my head. There's no point mulling over these things. I need to make haste.

It's almost sunset.

The perfect time for hunting.

The village I was assigned was old and rundown. Only a few people roam the area yet surprisingly, it's filled with lamps and torches. A small village like this is so full of light ...

As I walk by the streets, I caught the scent of something familiar. My head snapped to the right.

"Wisteria." I uttered under my breath. I looked around and then steadily closed my eyes, allowing myself to inhale the scent that surrounded the village.

This type of incense is rare and expensive. The fact that a rundown village like this can afford such a thing is making me feel uneasy.

"Riri-san, I didn't expect to see you here. " The nostalgic voice of a male made my eyes widened slightly. I turned around and made my eyes roam the place until they landed on a person's familiar figure.

"Genya-kun?" I asked to myself, taking the entire image of the scarred face boy. His features were illuminated with the light coming from the torches and he was wearing the standard uniform for demon slayers.

I slowly took a step closer to him. It feels like Genya hasn't changed but at the same time he did.

What is this sensation?

"Riri-san, it's been a long time. You've finally recovered." He remarked somewhat rudely to me but as the words left his mouth, I closed the gap between us and place my hand on top of his head.

"You've grown so tall! Sanemi-kun and you are almost the same in height. I'm so envious, Genya-kun. We grew up together! "Then I leaned closer to his face, narrowing my eyes in an intimidating way.

"How come you grew while I'm still like this?"

The scarred face youth flushed and covered his face but not before swatting my hand away.

"You're mean, Genya-kun." I told him while tilting my head and placing my hands on my hips.

His embarassed expression remain3d on his face as he spoke.

"S-Shut up! Don't blame someone else for your height!"

I grabbed one of his cheeks and immediately pulled.

"You really are being mean to me, you know. I might be small but atleast I have a decent pair of breasts. And I have all the curves I need to seduce a man."

Aside from the pained expression on his face while I was pulling his cheek apart, he turned even redder before yelling loudly.

"Aghh! Cut it out, you damn cow!"

There was a long stretched silence as I blankly looked at him.

The scarred face boy immediately batted my hand away before taking a few step backwards.

I took a step closer in return before cracking my knuckles.

"I'm giving you three seconds to run."

"Genya-kun's been assigned to this village too?" I confirmed when the boy nodded.

"This is the first time we've been on a mission together. I'm quite excited." I said while keeping my eyes out for any danger.

"I didn't asked for this." He answered back.

"Hey now! Don't look so down! If you're scared, I promise I'll protect you~"

"Riri-san, that wasn't what I meant.."

"Ahaha! Don't worry! You can count on me!"
