Adrian
I stared at my bloody knuckles. I had busted his lip, and probably broken his jaw, too. Honestly, I don't know what came over me. I saw the tears in her eyes, and my anger had taken over. Snapping back to reality, I pulled Aurora over to the front desk of the hospital I have been in so many times before. Memories have been made in this very place. Memories I couldn't bring myself to forget.

"Um, excuse me, I need a doctor to look at my, um, girlfriend here," I spoke.

"Now that's the biggest lie I've ever heard," she laughed, "we all know you can't keep a girl."

"Don't expose me like that, Hailey," I playfully glare at her. If you would have said that I'd ever refer to a girl in that way, then I'd laugh, and say that you were fucking crazy. But, now, as I divert my gaze over to her, I realize that I wouldn't mind hearing her call me her boyfriend. I'd never admit that, of course.

Hailey laughs out loud, and Aurora quirks an eyebrow at her. "How do you know Adrian?"

"Oh, honey, we go way back. I am his momma's best friend and sister. So, I'd come around a lot. I had to change his diapers on various occasions. I can't believe that this is the same guy that called me a cagna, which means "bitch" in Italian. That boy would say that word like it was his own name."

"How old was he?" She asked. I could tell she was shocked. I guess she didn't think I'd cuss so much.

Oh, Carter, you haven't seen the worst of me, yet.

"At the time, he was around five. It was party my fault, though. I'd say it every time someone cut in front of me in the McDonald's drive thru. Anyway, enough about Adrian's childhood, I'll check you in. Any specific doctor that you'd like to see?"

"Put them down for Dr. Carter, Hailey," I hear someone say. Wait, Dr. Carter? So that would mean...

"Dad!" Aurora exclaims, and runs straight into her father's arms. The moment between them causes my heartbeat to quicken. God, I sound like a lovesick schoolgirl.

"Hey, baby girl," he smiles, and kisses her forehead. So, does he know that his son is the reason she's here in the first place? His son that is currently on the ground, unless someone had been nice enough to help him up. I could just imagine what my mom would say to me, if she was still here.

"This wasn't how I raised you, Adrian. Stop being such a canga like your father." Then I'd laugh, and tell her that he deserved it. And dad would call "hey!" from the kitchen because he had finally realized that we were talking about him.

For a Navy veteran, dad was pretty slow.

"I'll put them down for Dr. Carter, sir," Hailey said, and scribbled something down on her clipboard. She has always had good handwriting, and mine has always looked like something that would be living with Oscar the Grouch.

Aurora hopped up on the examination table, and criss-crossed her legs. Damn, she has a nice body.

Dude, you sound like a jackass right now. Okay, let me rephrase that. You sound like a jackass all the time.

"How did you hit your head, Aurora?" He asked.

I refrained myself from responding with, "oh, you know, your asshole of a son hit her, and knocked her out. Typical day, huh?"

"Um, uh..." Man, she's too nice. I would have been like "dad, you know your golden boy of a son? He knocked me out the other day. Well, now that we got that out of the way, who wants pizza?"

"Answer the question, Aurora," Dr. Carter tried again, in a softer tone.

"Aspen hit me, dad, and he knocked me out, in the process," Aurora was on the verge of tears at this point, and it made me want to bash Aspen's face into the wall.

In all honesty, I'm not a violent person. I will only punch those who can't tell the difference between their dick and their mouth. Aspen definitely does not know the difference. He doesn't give a response.

Instead, he simply writes down the reasons for her visit, with narrowed eyes. It's obvious that he's irritated, but chooses not to damage his reputation.

"Can you remember what you had for breakfast this morning, Aurora?" Her dad asked, peering through his glasses.

She chewed on her bottom lip, deep in thought, as she pondered the question at hand. She tucked a strand of her black hair behind her ear. "Adrian picked me up a sausage biscuit at McDonald's, and I complained how greasy their food was, until he told me to "shut the al divalo up." I'm wasn't exactly sure what it meant, but he didn't sound happy, so I shut up."

I smirked at the girl that could take my breath away with a single glance. "It translates to shut the fucking hell up in Italian. Girls seem to dig when I cuss in my native tongue." I sent a wink in her direction, and I didn't miss the blush that covered her cheeks.

"What can I say, Carter? Gli italiani sono caldi da morire," I murmur in her ear. "Italians are hot as hell." Judging by the way she grazed her bottom lip with her teeth, she felt the same way.

So, do you guys prefer Aurora or Adrian's POV? I personally like Adrian's better because he is more blunt and sarcastic than Aurora, and I can relate to him more. Needless to say, I'm a sarcastic bitch at times. 😂 Anyway, I tried to translate whatever Adrian said in Italian. If I messed up on something, please tell me.
