*Zosime's POV*

A couple weeks went on and Melo and I didn't really say much about what happened. It kept happening though. We would lock eyes a lot more lately. We never tried to kiss though again. We just hang out a bit more at home and just kinda chill together. It's pretty nice to be honest.

I closed my locker and turned around to face a girl I didn't really know. I kind of did though. I've seen her in the halls but that's about it. "So," she tapped my shoulder with her fingers hard enough to make my shoulder push back.
"What?" I laughed a little bit, regaining my balance.
"Rocco told me about you. Said you the new freak girl from what? Some weird poor place?" she looked me up an down, "Freak." I looked at her confused. "Who is Rocco?" I asked.
"Me, you set your little boy friend LaMelo after me," my locker neighbor walked up, "You think I'm scared of that scrawny ass little nigga. Nah. You wanna set someone on me. Now someone on your back. Freak." he spit on the floor almost at my shoes, I backed away from it and looked at them confused. "Shew before I have to kick your ass!" the girl looked at me and urged forward at me making me flinch back. I shook my head and walked away from them, going to Melo's locker. "What did you tell him??" I asked Melo.
"What do you mean??" he asked, looking at me.
"To that guy! By my locker!" I raised my voice at him, "Rocco or something!" Tears started to fill my eyes. "Hey, hey calm down okay," Melo pulled me into a hug. I hugged back and sighed a little bit, starting to calm down. "I just told him to leave you alone or he would regret it," Melo told me, pulling away and looking at me.
"Well now he has some chick ready to kick my ass at any minute," I sighed.
"I wont let that happen okay?" he told me, nodding. I nodded back at him agreeing with him. "I'm sorry it went that far just didn't want them messing with you like that," he shrugged.
"It's okay," I told him, "Just got worked up."
"I get it," He nodded. The ball rang and he shut his locker. "C'mon kid," he nodded his head towards the direction we were walking. We walked to class and I sat down in my seat. Melo sat behind me, as usual. The girl walked in that I met in the hall. "That's her," I whispered to Melo. He looked a little shocked and leaned back in his seat glancing between me and her. "What?" I asked.
"That's my ex," he told me.
