Later that night Emric found himself in the library, reading the first book that intrigued him. Alfred startled him, causing the boy to jump and teleport away and then quickly teleporting back when he realizes that it's just the billionaires trusted butler. "Apologies master Wilder, I just wanted to give you a late-night snack since you didn't eat much of your dinner."

"Mr. Pennyworth, do you get lonely here? This place is just so big." Emric asks signing, he found out quickly that he nor Bruce liked it when he talked in their heads. It made them feel uncomfortable and exposed, while Jason didn't mind it.

This wasn't the first time Alfred had gotten asked this question, he remembered when Dick asked him not too long after he moved in with them. Signing back Alfred replies, "It can get a little lonely but I have master Bruce and master Jason to keep me company. If you ever feel alone or lost we will be here for you."

"Where is everyone?" Emric asks as he sets his book down beside him. Putting his feet on the ground, taking them off the small couch in the library.

Alfred looks at the silver watch on his wrist and tells the deaf boy, "They'll be leaving for patrol here in a few minutes. If you need anything don't be afraid to ask." And with that Alfred left the room and headed down to the bat cave where Jason and Bruce we're getting ready to go out into the city. Fighting crime and taking vengeance.

While Emric stayed in the library, curled up on the small sofa with a good book in his hand. He began to reread a story he was attempting to read when he went to school. He was surprised to see that it was in Bruce's library. But then again there were so many books in the library. There were small books, big books, thin books, and thick books. Once he learned how to read there was no stopping him. Even after his accident he still loved to read. They were his only escape from not being able to hear. He gained a better understanding of the books the more he read.

As the night grew on he started drifting off, the book falling from his hand, a giant thud sounding in the air, the weird vibration causing him to absentmindedly teleport, his mind registering the vibration as gunfire. Looking at his surroundings he notices he's in the bad part of Gotham, crime alley. Glancing at the street below him since he ironically teleported to the top of the roof, he sees Batman and Robin and taking on a bunch of thugs.

He watched the way they fought, enjoying every minute of it. The way they punched and kicked people was different, it was like there was a whole new style to fighting. The more Emric watched the more he understood, they fought bad guys like it was an art. It wasn't a way of self-defense, it was like they were the brushes and the bad guys were their canvases.

The air around him began to chill prompting his return to the manor. If he could have he would have followed them and watched them fight the whole night. But if he knew anything it was that Bruce would know he was following he didn't want to get into trouble. He didn't want to put his home at the manor in jeopardy. Falling back he teleports himself back to the manor, back to the library, finding it exactly the way he left it. Picking up the small plate of cookies he picks one up and plops it into his mouth, the taste of warm chocolate chips and sugar hit his tongue and he thought for sure he had died and gone to the beautiful place up in the sky. Finishing the cookies faster than the flash, he picks up the plate, and carries it back to the kitchen, placing it in the sink where it belongs.

He heads back to the library and sits down on the sofa, a small look of sadness covers his face as he realizes the warmth was gone. Picking the book up off the ground he flips through it and easily finds his place, picking up where he left off in his adventurous journey to save the forgotten wastelands of the magical land that everyone knew of, OZ, curious to see why the famed Dothea must die.

The hours started to fly by and he covers himself up in the blanket he brought with him, the book softly laying on the boys' chest, rising and falling with his breathing. Jason and Bruce return shortly after midnight and Bruce asks, "So was it a pretty quiet night."

"Yes, Master Wilder has spent all night in the library." Alfred replies pulling up the library on the monitor, showing them a sleeping Emric curled up on the small sofa in the library.

Jason and Bruce take off their uniforms and Bruce heads straight to his room while Jason starts to walk, his feet carrying him to the library. He moves over to the small sofa and lets out a small chuckle, "You picked the worst sofa to fall asleep on."

The new Robin glances over the boy's sleep face, his skin lit up by the glow of the moon. A piece of his somewhat shaggy brown hair covered his forehead and started to droop over his eyes. Seeing him calm was weird, determination, fear, or when at times when his light green eyes were filled with nothing. For a moment he that's all he wanted for this boy. It was strange for him to start to care but there was something about Emric that made him want to protect the small amount of innocence the boy had left. He didn't want Emric to be ruined like the way he felt he was.

Gently sliding his arms underneath the passed out boys' knees and back, he scoops him up and holds him close to his chest. The blanket falls off the boys' body but miraculously the book stays. As soon as the blanket fell, the cold started to fight warm, diminishing it like a flame being snuffed out by the harsh and cold wind. Subconsciously, Emric moves his head towards the warmth that Jasons' body was handing out and nuzzles the left side of his face into the Robins' chest, trying to soak up as much as the heat he possibly could. Being warm was something he struggled with, after the countless experiments he went through he found it harder and harder to keep his body heat. Jason was like a heater, always running hot.

The slightly older boys' cheeks began to burn a bright red color but he quickly tries to hide it when Alfred comes walking in, "Ah, such a nice thing to do Master Todd. Let me help you."

The butler picks up the blanket, rolling up into a medium-sized ball before he places the blanket in the sleeping boys' lap. Jason turns and begins to walk out the door, "Have a good night, Master Todd."

"You too, Alfred." Jason replies the small blush dying down a little, quickly being replaced with embarrassment. The walk to Emric's room was short, he figured it would be a little hard carrying the boy up the stairs but Emric hardly weighed anything. He was like carrying a cantaloupe or a small melon. His mind began to wander back to when he saw home getting dressed, how boney he looked. Feeling him now as he carried him he could feel how skinny the boy was. Like he was glass and could break at any time.

When he finally gets to the boys' room he lays him down on his bed. Before he covers him up he picks up the book and lays it on the nightstand next to his bed. Just as he goes to leave he grabs a small piece of paper and writes him a note, leaving it in his book for him to find when he finishes the book. A groan escapes Emric's lips as he rolls over on his stomach, causing Jason to bolt out of Emrics' room and down the hall to his own.
