"Alright! You ready to go?" Your mom was more excited then you were. "I can't wait to see the house. I wonder if it looks the same."
You smiled but rolled your eyes as you got in the car. The conversations were non stop since orientation two months ago at the Kappa Nu sorority house. Your mother trained you on how to be accepted with open arms and it worked non the less but the truth was you didn't want it. The rules were overwhelming and too stressful to follow. You just wanted to have fun in college and be as independent as you can but being part of a sorority limits your freedom.
You being part of a community you weren't dedicated to wasn't fair for someone who wanted it but your mother was too proud to hear you out. That's why you haven't even discussed it yet. You were scared. She talked about Kappa Nu for as long as you could remember. Everything was perfect at Kappa Nu, an experience like no other.
"Just remember, the first day they will have you move in a tour the school but in the middle of the night they will drag you out of bed and put a bag over your head for the ceremony. Don't worry it's just a gathering to welcome you in. It's all fun and games." You looked at her with confusion. Is this a cult you were getting yourself into? "Also they are gonna say you need to drink the blood of its ancestors but it's just cranberry juice." She laughed.
"Fun." You said sarcastically.
"It's gonna be so much fun. You'll love it." She was too excited for your own good. "Aren't you?"
"Of course." You said quite chipper since in fact you were more nervous then anything.
Living in a house full of girls is going to be quite the challenge. You were always good at making friends but it was easier before. Here you were going to be living with these girls, so first impressions matter. You always tried to stay away from drama but it always had a habit of finding you.
"I know some of these rules are.....annoying but they are easy to follow if you stay out of trouble. Being on your leaders good side will look good for your future in maybe running it your senior year."
"I'm not really leader material." You spoke but your mother just laughed.
"Of course you are dear. You are smart, friendly, ambitious. Many amazing qualities to be a Kappa leader, you'll see."
...
"Look, there it is." Your mother cheered as you pulled up to the house. Your mother had to park a little farther down since most students were moving in at the same time. "It feels like only yesterday, I was a student here."
Please.
You grabbed an empty cart and started filling it up with the few boxes you had. "You don't need to help me."
"Oh come on honey. I want to see the house." She was acting like a kid in a candy store.
"Hello, Mrs. (Y/L/N) and this must be your daughter. You two look so much alike."
"(Y/N) this is Mrs. Kang, she is one of your house mothers."
"Nice to meet you." You smiled.
"I'll be showing you to your room. This way." You grabbed a box and followed the women, as well as your mother. The room was pretty decent. Not too small, not too big. The room was very clean and plain, everything was just white.

The other side was empty so you got to choose which side to stay on. You didn't know who your potential roommate was, you just hoped it wasn't the obvious sorority girl.
"Very nice." Your mother looked around. You choose the right side of the room and placed your first box on the bed.
Once all your stuff was in your room, you and your mother walked around the house, learning what your mother remembered. "Look, there's me my senior year." She pointed to an d photo placed in the living room. Wow so she really was a big deal here.
"Remember what I told you." She spoke making sure no one else was around.
"I know." You said. Your were prepared and that was all that mattered.
"Call if you need me. It doesn't matter that you're in college now, you call me whenever." She hugged you.
"I know." You spoke, your voice being muffled against her shoulder.
"Follow the rules and have fun." She said poking your nose like she has since you were a kid. She got in her car and drove away leaving you alone. You felt your heart race a bit knowing that this was it. You were on your own now. You went back upstairs and saw another girl in your room, already handing things on her side.
"Hey." She smiled at you. She was hanging a joy division poster up taking you by surprised. You thought all sorority girls besides yourself were going to be over the top priss and snobby.
"I'm Jennie." She took your hand.
"I'm (Y/N)." You smiled back. "So, does this place make you nervous or is it just me?"
"Very. I heard that the head senior is pretty intense." She pursed her lips. "But I'm not gonna let that bother me. I'm here for school and that's all that matters. This is just a room to sleep in."
"So you aren't a dedicated Kappa Nu." You mocked.
"Not really. My sister was one and my parents expect me too." She rolled her eyes but smiled.
"Same but it was my mom who was a Kappa."
"Oh, a legend." She laughed. "I just can't wait until the frat parties. My sister said they get pretty intense."
"I bet."
"We are all needed downstairs." Another girl popped her head into your room and you followed her downstairs.
"Is everyone here?"
"Yes."
"Welcome Ladies." A girl with the most prissy smile was front and center of the room. "I see our returning Kappas and some new potential kappa. How are you all?"
"I'm your leading sister and senior Haeryung and this is Mimi and Jeonghwa, your other leading sisters." She continued. "Since today is move in day we won't get into any detail today, you may all go out and explore the school or go out to get more supplies and then we will go over rules starting tomorrow."
"But first, shall we all introduce ourselves." She started a line going with each and every girl saying their name and grade.
"So we have 4 freshman this year. Welcome. You will fit in like family I'm sure. Most of you know the rules but we will refresh your memories tomorrow like I said but the only rule I'm giving you is to be back by 7pm tonight and we can have a welcoming dinner together." She smiled.
"Go have fun and don't get into trouble now." She dismissed everyone.
"I don't think I like her." Jennie whispered to you as you left. You both had your schedules and decided to find your classes so you won't get lost the first day. "She seems fake."
"Best not get on her bad side." You said both laughing.
You liked Jennie, she was pretty cool. She reminded you a lot of your other friend. Just laid back and genuine, someone you feel like you could trust.
....
"They do what?" Jennie asked as you both were eating lunch. You just nodded in amusement.
"What kind of school is this?" She said with her mouth hung open.
"It's normal. Every sorority and fraternity have their own ways of welcoming you into the sorority." You shrugged not fazed by it.
"Can't believe it. What am I getting into here?"
"Your sister didn't tell you?"
"Nope. Must of slipped her mind." She said sticking a fry in her mouth. "Maybe they changed it."
