48. Sacrifice
You didn't have to fall for me,
Yet you did.
You fell in love with my darkness,
But then you started drowning in it.
You should have left me,
Yet you didn't.
You grasped my hand and tried pulling me upwards,
But my darkness was too dense.
It was slowly consuming you,
Yet you never let go.
You asked me that day if I loved you,
And I thought why are you even asking me this?
How can I not love a person who loved my darkness,
Who didn't let go of me even when I myself did?
Yet my lips were sealed that day.
I couldn't say anything.
The demon was lurking behind you.
It was smirking at me
Waiting for me to say the words and risk your life.
It didn't have anything to lose.
If it couldn't have you, then I am always there.
But for me, losing you would mean losing everything.
That's why I didn't say anything,
Even though I knew I loved you.
You made a sacrifice for me
And I made one for you.
