Ashes

Held together
In a pile on the floor
Neatly sweeped as a mound
I remember the moment vividly
When she burst into flames
Burst into tears
As the reckoning begun
The birds and the blame
Had come to eat away
A feast that had been lain
A carcass or a carapace
That was her former shell
She was locked within a cell
Versions of herself
Try to pick and pull
At her like wolves
A sheep of wool
Just trying to pull
It together
As she rises from the ashes
