 TAINTED | CHAPTER 15

Reunion

We had left out of the room from down below and I was now back in the quarters Valentina had escorted me to. My father from this world had to go before the staff had arrived in the home. In our conversation, I didn't feel sympathy for him however I did understand how it happened. They were young and selfish like most young people would be. It's just what they did was very public, and it brought me.

I laid in bed resting my thoughts until I had drifted to sleep. It was one of the restless kinds of slumber where I still felt aware of the world, but my mind was still trying to take me into dreamland.

When my mind took over and I got deep into the rest. I dreamed I was laying down in bed doing exactly as I was doing now. The difference was that the same figure I had seen a few days ago was standing next to the bed.

It was a deep black mist that could only be described as a monster. Even though it looked devilish with its humanoid face you could barely make it out, but it was subtly there. It lingers there just watching me sleep.

I'm personally unsure how I was asleep but still able to know my surroundings. When this creature came about it had me feeling I was riding a wave in between reality and consciousness.

I looked up to the creature opening my eyes and it had moved forward elongating an arm out to me. It proceeded to glide effortlessly next to my side in the air. It's shadowy hand reach towards my face touching me. All I felt was some sort of pressure against my cheek, but nothing felt solid that went along with the touch. It leaned down and in an eerie voice that had a masculine edge to it whispered in my ear, "Do not be scared, we have been waiting for you. I'll come to you again with the others."

I couldn't respond before the vapor had diminished and I had been awoken.

I stretched out of my sleep yawning tiredly. I was unsure how much of what I had been dreaming lately was to be taken seriously. Either way, I dismissed it with thought and looked around the room.

Valentina had been sitting in a love seat that was at the end of the room next to a lit fire. She looked to be reading a book curled up in one of her elegant dresses. Her hair was pulled up into a net clean updo with curls cascading around her face.

I made my way to her, but I stood across from her near the fireplace leaning against the warm brick. She looks up from her book with a warm face. "So, how was it?" She breathed setting her book down on the armrest and getting up approaching me.

"It was something I never expected. Why didn't you tell me he was still here," I chose my words carefully not knowing how far any soul was from our corridor.

Thoughtfully she answered me, "It was never my place to tell. Those types of secrets are left to the hand of the king." She smiled up kindly to me and placed a hand on my cheek. "If you have enough energy, I do have something familiar to give to you. While you were with your father Arianna and Bomani had returned with your beloved human parents."

My heart skipped a beat. It felt like ages since I had seen my mom and dad. I was so focused on what was happening in this mysterious world that I nearly forgot their arrival. "Where are they then? Are they going to be in danger since they are Elguto?"

"Some of the other creatures may show a little disdain about them. Not many vampires are created like that but there is a community of them down by the outskirts of the kingdom. They tend to keep to themselves." She said smiling in my face.

"I'm not sure if you guys know of the word but are people racist against them?" I was sure if that was a part of this world or not. I know from where I was its small town and a few of the elders around town were unkind to people that didn't resemble them. It was honestly some of the cruelest stuff you could experience as another person. I wasn't sure if I was putting people that I loved in danger.
