The sky was an ashy grey, there were no clouds yet the sun could barely be seen. It was a gloomy type of weather, the type where it felt like it could rain any minute now and it would've been a very depressive time of the year if the leaves that haven't fallen off the trees weren't a beautiful mixture of golden brown, red and orange colours. It was only going to last a couple of weeks until all the leaves fell off and we transitioned into the winter weather. The start of October was always like a sweet welcome to the bitter cold that was going to come, it was the fade between the delightful warmth of the sun during summer, the non-alcoholic mojitos by the pool and the beach parties to the snowy and dreamy, sometimes disheartening weather, the hot chocolates by the fireplace, the oversized knitted sweaters and big furry coats.
When I woke up at 6:30 this morning, there was barely any light outside. I went downstairs and made myself a cup of coffee with milk and cinnamon and ate two oranges. Then I did my morning routine and put on a white turtleneck, light blue jeans, my white airforces and a pastel mint trench coat. I let my hair out and didn't bother straightening it so the curls arranged themselves graciously. My cheeks were bright red from the heat in my room so I quickly grabbed my bag, phone and a Daniel Wellington silver watch to put on my wrist.
Bonnie had classes later as well as Sawyer, meaning I had to take the bus to school.
Or I could call one of the boys.
I quickly unlock my phone and click on Archer's contact to dial him. It rings three times before he picks up, "Hello?" He says groggily.
"Hi, Archer! Do you by any chance have lessons that start at 8?" I ask nicely. His breaths were slow and really loud which led me to believe he was still in bed.
"Nope, they start at 1."
"Oh, alright, sorry for waking you up!" I hang up the phone and go to Jay's contact, who only answers after about ten rings.
"Yo, Ivy, what's up?" He says all energised. He laughs at something and I hear another girly muffled laugh.
"Jay, I don't wanna bother you but do you have any lessons in the morning?"
"I'm not going school today, I have to— Umm— resolve some issues at the bank," he stutters and I instantly realise he's lying. He was skipping school to hang out with Honey, which would've been super cute in high school where attendance didn't really matter if you had really good grades but this was college and the professors never taught only stuff from the textbooks.
