"This sucks." Alex slams her head back against the wall, and Steve winces, but the redhead shows no sign of having been pained by the action. "Is this seriously what the next few thousand years are gonna be like?? Having to sit around in here while this brat runs around doing whatever he pleases??"

"I'm sure Notch will be able to deal with him." Steve suggests hopefully, but Alex looks unconvinced.

"He should be doing something now. Does he seriously not see what's going on??"

"I don't know."

"Yeah, I didn't think so. It was a rhetorical question." Alex heaves a sigh, leaning back against the wall and staring up at the ceiling. "It's just... frustrating. We can't do anything."

"Yeah." Steve agrees miserably. He'd heard voices and fighting outside in the hall earlier, one Herobrine's and one their captor, and from the sound of it Herobrine had lost. That means Notch is now their only hope of rescue, and, unless Manfred is with her, Y/N is defenseless.

A click from the door catches his attention, and he looks up as the door swings open to see a pair of red eyes glowing from the darkness of the hall.

"The **** you want?" Alex snaps as Entity 303 steps into Steve's cell, but the boy ignores her, kneeling next to Steve instead and reaching for his chained wrist.

"Hey," Steve starts to protest, but stops short when the shackle pops open. "What are you-?"

"Be quiet." 303 cuts him off, unlocking his other cuff. "Get up." Steve hesitates, then shoots Alex a final look before obliging. "Come with me." Without waiting to see if he obeys, 303 turns and exits the cell, heading down the hall to the right.

Cautiously, Steve follows him out, trying to take note of his surroundings. Where was he taking him? He didn't seem to be worried about him trying to escape, but, where would he go? It wasn't like he knew his way out of this place. And his captor could just teleport after him, so...

On that note, where is he taking him? Is he just separating him from Alex? That doesn't make much sense, but Steve doesn't know him well enough to understand what goes through his head.

Eventually, they reach a slightly bigger chamber, and 303 gestures towards an iron door in a small passage leading through the far wall. Warily, Steve approaches, then passes him, and crosses through the doorway as the iron door swings open in front of him.

On the other side is a small room, furnished and lit, unlike most of the rest of the base. There's a bed, a table with a flowerpot, and a crafting table, as well as an armchair made out of wool and stair blocks. The seat is slightly scorched, he notices. It's not until he makes his second sweep of the room, however, that he spots the body curled up in the corner.

"Y/N!" The girl's head pops up at his voice, and immediately she scrambles to her feet.

"Steve!" The door slams behind him as he hurries across the room towards her, and she buries herself in his arms.

"What happened? Are you okay??" He hugs her tight, and she hides her face in his chest.

"I'm okay." Her voice is shaky. "But 303 took Manfred."

"Is he-??"

"He's okay, he's just... brainwashed, or something." She sets her head on his shoulder with a shuddering sigh. "Why- why are you here?"

"I don't know. He just showed up and lead me here. Did something happen?"

"He and..." She pauses. "He and I were getting along okay, but then he got really mad over something and he took Manfred. He's a jerk." She frowns, and Steve gives her a squeeze before letting go, looking around the room.

"What's this place made out of? Could we escape?"

"I doubt it." Y/N looks mournfully at the walls of her prison. "Even if we could get out of this room, we're in the End. There's nowhere to go but the void."

"We are?" Steve blinks, glancing around. He hasn't seen any sign of being in the other dimension.

"Manfred said so, and Theo confirmed it."

"Who's Theo?" Y/N blinks, then flushes red.

"Entity 303. I gave him a nickname." She changes the subject. "A-anyway, he can teleport, and he's really strong. I don't know what we can do."

"Well we can't just do nothing." Steve throws a glance at the door before beginning to pace. "Basically the only sentient entity left who isn't imprisoned here is Notch. That makes him our only hope, unless we can somehow escape." He pauses at the disgruntled look on his friend's face. "I know, but still."

"Ugh, I don't know what to think." Taking a step away in the tiny room, Y/N sinks down on the edge of her bed. "I don't want to be stuck here forever, but I just... I don't know if we can beat him. I don't know if anyone can beat him. Not even Notch."

"He can." Steve insists, sitting down on the floor beside her. "He practically owns the universe. What can 303 do to him?"

"I don't know. He's... a person from my world, in case you're not aware." She glances down at him. "He's a hacker."

"I... knew he wasn't like us." Steve offers her a slow nod. "That still doesn't inherently make him more powerful."

"Yeah, I know. If nothing else, though, he's really confident." She places her chin in her hand. "I'm scared. I miss Herobrine." She blurts out, and Steve doesn't move for a moment before tentatively reaching up and patting her shoulder.

"It'll work out. I promise."

"How??" Her head snaps towards him, and he winces as a tear trails down her cheek. "How can you possibly know that??"

"It has so far, hasn't it?" He smiles, but she only sticks out her lip in a pout. He chuckles. "Alright, I don't know. But I have a good feeling about it."

"Mmph."

"Where were you?" Alex asks crossly as Steve is pushed back into his cell, the door slamming shut behind him.

"Uh, visiting Y/N, apparently. That's hardly my fault, though." The miner glances back at the door to see 303 walking away, apparently deciding he's not worth chaining up again. "She says we're in the End." He informs his counterpart, sinking down next to the hole in the wall. "So, even if we could escape, without a way to teleport back we're stuck here."

"Any idea if the Ender Dragon is defeated in this plane?"

"No clue. Or if we're anywhere near the dragon shrine."

"Ah." Alex scowls at the wall. "Don't suppose you could get me out of these cuffs?"

"I can give it a shot." Turning around, Steve starts knocking on the block above the opening, watching as a tiny crack appears in the center. "But like I said, there's not much point. Since we're in the End, the only place we can go is..." The rest of his sentence dies on his lips as something occurs to him. "Wait."

"Wait what?" Alex prompts, and Steve begins to knock on the stone with renewed vigor as a grin spreads across his face.

"I think I know how we can get ourselves out of here."
