The next few hours pass in a daze.
You float in and out of sleep, occasionally becoming aware of lights and voices around you before drifting off again. You have no idea how long it takes, but eventually you managed to achieve consciousness and find yourself in a small, wooden room.
You're on a mattress, which you push yourself off of and struggle to your feet. You're dizzy, apparently the effects of the potion haven't completely worn off yet. Bracing yourself on the wall, you make your way towards the iron door on the far side of the room, with the intent of trying to get an idea of your location via the window. As you reach for the door to lean against it, however, it opens, and you don't react quickly enough to avoid pitching forward and hitting the figure in the doorway.
"Whoa there." Black hands grasp your arms, and you try to plant your feet under you, looking up.
"Theo?" You ask blearily.
"What are you doing out of bed? You're gonna hurt yourself, just wait for the potion to wear off." Grabbing you under your armpits, he hauls you upright, throwing an arm around your waist and half-dragging you back into the room. You let him, having a hard time processing what's happening here.
"Where's Herobrine?" You manage as your captor pushes you onto the bed.
"Locked up. I gave him a chance to leave me alone, but he was insistent." Theo flops down next to you, watching as you struggle to sit up with the room spinning around you. "Sorry."
"Yeah." You give up, falling back and staring up at the ceiling. "My head... feels like it's full of bees." You ramble, prompting a snicker from the boy next to you. "What the heck did you get me high on?"
"I told you those potions were weird. Oh- here." He pauses, then grabs your arm, tugging you upright and offering you a glass bottle full of white liquid. You squint at the item for a moment, then something clicks.
"Milk?"
"Yep." You grab the bottle, remove the cork, and tip it back, letting the universal antidote slide down your throat. Almost instantly, the lightheadedness begins to clear, and as you blink the buzzing in your skull fades away.
"That- is so much better." You press a cool hand to your forehead. "Thanks."
"No problem." There's a few moments of silence, and a question you had neglected to ask him before pops into your head.
"Theo?"
"Yeah?"
"...you went home, right?" A beat passes.
"Yeah."
"Was it- are you okay?" He shrugs, staring at the wall.
"My avatar doesn't reflect the state of my physical body. Any damage to me there didn't cross over."
"You were hurt?"
"A little." You hesitate, then press onwards.
"What's- if you- if it's okay for me to ask, what's- what's so bad about your home life?" You stumble over the words, but manage to get them out. Theo blinks, looking over to meet your eyes.
"Why?"
"Just curious. I guess. I mean..." You comb your fingers through your hair, trying to string together an acceptable answer. "You're... you have a lot going on. I wanna know why you are the way you are."
"You wanna know my tragic backstory?" He flashes you a grin, and you snicker.
"I guess."
