Calum walked into his General part of the hospital like he owned the place, all the nurses immediately looking to him- none of them expecting him to be home three days early.

"Where's Mason?" He spoke out swiftly.

"I believe your office" one nurse spoke swiftly, making him laugh.

"I leave for a week and a half and this cocky bitch thinks he can lounge in my office too? Someone needs an attitude adjustment." Calum spoke, continuing to hold Aaliyah's hand, herself trailing behind him as I followed both of them.

We went into Calum's office, immediately seeing the same doctor sitting at Calum's desk, on his phone.

One thing all doctors knew- no phone time, there's always something to be done.

"Doctor Mason" Calum spoke out swiftly, making him immediately jump to his feet.

"Doctor Hood-" "enjoying yourself?" Calum interrupted him.

"N-no sir, just resting and the attending's lounges were taken, this was the only spot I could sit without being in front of patients." He spoke at a quick pace- glancing between Calum and I.

"Okay- we'll talk about you being on your phone and in my office in a few hours, but until then I want you to come with us as I get x-rays on Ms.Aaliyah here- didn't you diagnose her?" He asked slowly.

His face dropped even more
"Yes sir" he mumbled quietly.

"With?" Calum spat towards him almost.

"An upper respiratory infection"

"Let's go check this infection out, why don't we?"

We went to radiology, the nurses immediately taking Aaliyah as soon as Calum mentioned chest x-rays.

We waited about ten minutes before Aaliyah returned to us, a nurse following with a folder.

The nurse didn't look relieved at all.

"Thank you" Calum nodded.

We went to a permanent room- which I assumed Calum had already gotten for Aaliyah.

I watched as Calum threw her x-rays onto a light.

"Now, Doctor Mason, does an upper respiratory infection change an x-ray?" Calum asked before switching the light on.

"No sir" mason almost whispered.

Calum flipped the light on- showing immediate signs of pneumonia.

"Jesus" I mumbled lightly, seeing how cloudy her lungs were.

"That look like an upper respiratory infection to you?" Calum asked.

"I never did x-rays on her." Mason spoke quietly.

"Why not?" Calum asked quickly.

"Because I would've swore-" "didn't her legal guardian argue against your diagnosis?" Calum raised his eyebrow.

"Yes sir" mason spoke.

"So why didn't you look further into it? Give them the benefit of the doubt? Instead you discharge her to go home and get worse, do you realize pneumonia can kill someone?" Calum was beyond angry at this point.

"I'm sorry-" "save it" Calum spat.

"Go home. I'm calling Doctor Francesca to fill your spot for the next few nights." Calum spoke, talking about a doctor who had been begging to work under Calum's team for the past few months, but Calum never had a reason go let anyone go, now he did have a reason.

"No- you're firing me?" He spoke quickly.

"We are California's number one general health care facility." Calum spoke sternly.

"And no one is too good to replace, you've apparently got too big of a head to work under my department, so yes- I am letting you go. Go to a hospital that doesn't care about misdiagnosing patients, but that's not what we are about." He spoke sternly, making him arms drop even.

"I'll do anything-" "you've done enough, now I'm worried about everyone else you've seen while I was gone- I have to call in every person that you diagnosed to make sure that you didn't fuck them over either, so thank you, but you may leave." Calum shot to him, pointing to the door.

Mason laughed lightly
"You'll regret letting me go, I'm the best you'll ever have." He spat before leaving the room quickly making Calum's demeanor go from stern and strict to straight up soft and affectionate.

He pulled Aaliyah into a tight hug.

"I'm sorry you had to ever be treated by that ass hole." Calum spoke into her hair, kissing her head before pulling away.

"But let's get you an IV, some local medicines and some oxygen, hows that sounds?"

"So good"
