(A/n)
I did this two years ago on canvas in oil paints. I originally scrapped the sketch and then found it months later. I didn't like it at first but decided it was actually a neat idea after forgetting about it.<The zoo?>
Cracker told you to wear something comfy and said you'd be outside all day today. Now it made sense. So you came wearing your favorite pair of jeans, sneakers, and light sweater since it was still a little chilly out. Cracker dressed similarly with a open flannel over a plain tee shirt and his hair up in a pony tail.
"Yeah, simple and fun right? I was thinking dinner and a movie before, but that'd be too obvious."
<I'd be fine with anything. But the zoo is fun. I haven't gone since I was little.>
You were already here too. Cracker didn't tell you anything until you'd arrived. You offered to drive since he took you yesterday but one look at your little car and he said no. It wasn't in the best of shape but it went from point A to point B. He said he wouldn't take you out on a date and make you drive as an excuse but it seemed more like he saw the vehicle as a death trap. So he drove you once again.
"It's been ages for me too. I think the last time I was here was with my little sister. She wanted to go so bad and no one would take her." He smiled at the memory.
At the entrance you pulled out your purse, planning on paying for yourself but Cracker beat you to it. He gave the attendant a few bills before you'd even found your card.
<You don't have to pay for me.> It was nice but you could take care of yourself. Now that you knew about his family, you also knew he was loaded. You didn't want it to look like you were after his money either.
"I'm a little old school when it comes to dating and you know what they say," He moseyed into the park with you, picking up a map of the place as he went. "you can't teach an old dog new tricks."
You huffed, earning a chuckle from him. <You aren't that old.>
"You think? Maybe you've just been bringing out the kid in me lately. Ohhhh, there's elephants close by, want to see them first?" He did have a pep in his step today, that's for sure. There was a strong possibility that you'd have a hard time keeping up with him.
----
You'd walked around the entire park at least twice with Cracker, had an overpriced lunch, and made another lap around the zoo just to spend more time together.
"I guess we've checked everything out." He scanned the map for what felt like the thousandth time.
<Not gonna lie, my feet are killing me too.>
"That makes two of us. It's getting late anyway, wanna head to the car?"
You nodded. You did but you wanted to spend more time with him as well.
"Hey," There was a spark in his eyes. "how's dinner and a movie sound?"
Bless this man.
<What happened to that being too obvious?>
"Is that a no?" His face fell. You'd never seen someone go from happy to disappointed so fast.
You shook your head and tried to recover. <No I'd love to do that. You didn't seem to want to go for that before is all.>
He immediately regained his smile. "I wanted the first date to be different, more fun than dinner."
A grin crept up your face. <Are you suggesting that there's going to be more than one date?>
