"Hey babe." Law called from the front door. He'd just gotten back from work.
You'd been with him for a couple months now you think. Time flew by so you weren't sure, you didn't count the days. He liked your quaint little apartment and preferred spending time with you here rather than his own home. That meant his dog, a white fluffy giant called Bepo, spent a lot of time with you too.
Said dog bolted for the door the second he heard Law's voice, body shaking with excitement. That was all well and good, except he used your guts for a launch pad to get to the man. That was the last time you cuddled him on the couch right before Law was due back from work.
You groaned, the sound coming out more like a long, strangled sigh as Law came into view with Bepo bouncing around him.
"Are you alright (Y/n)-ya?"
*Yep. Just need a second to recover from Bepo reorganizing my intestines.*
Law chuckled. "He forgets his own size sometimes." He leaned over the couch and kissed you. "Shouldn't you be in bed anyway? It's late."
*I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd wait for you to come home.*
"Let's see if we can get you to sleep now then. I think I have something in mind that can help." He purred against your ear.
----
Law got called in to work early the next morning, leaving you and Bepo to hang out together. The dog was great to cuddle first thing in the morning. The second his master rolled out of bed, he took his spot right beside you. He was definitely nice to have around during the day when you were alone. Cracker had gotten you so used to having constant company that you hated being by yourself now. And with the way Law worked, you were alone far too often.
It still sent a pang through your chest every time you saw Cracker. You still loved him. You refused to admit it though, that would mean admitting that the only thing tying you to Law was your need for companionship. In some twisted way, you loved him too, but it wasn't the same kind of love you felt for your ex. With Law it was more of a kinship.
With his father living in a similar fashion to you, Law was able to understand you better than most people. And he himself shared a lot of similar habits with you. You were two peas in a pod. He helped you feel better but there was still something missing for you.
Maybe it was the passion Cracker used to show you. He didn't always understand you, but he never stopped trying either, not until the very end at least. Or maybe it was the teasing. Law was a tease, but more sexually so. Cracker was more of a "tease you until your sides burned from laughter" kind of guy. Yeah, you definitely missed that. Law took life outside of the bedroom much more seriously, jokes were more of a treat with him.
You shook your head, annoyed with yourself. Why compare them? You and Cracker had both moved on. It was time to get over it. You could use a walk to clear your head. Bepo would love it too anyway. You threw on some clothes, a pair of sneakers and grabbed Bepo's collar from off the nightstand, giving it a shake so the tags clinked around to get the dog's attention.
He bounced around on the bed excitedly as you put the collar on. It was a fun thing Law did with him. Every night before bed he took the collar off. And every morning he'd ask Bepo if he wanted to get dressed. Of course the dog would lose it, unable to contain his excitement and Law would "dress" him with the collar.
You got the leash and harness from the kitchen counter and wrestled it on to Bepo. The dog didn't know his own strength sometimes so the harness was necessary. It kept him from choking himself out from tugging on the leash too much.
