Madison let out a whimper of frustration as her body slowly pulled her from her sleep. She had been in and out of dreams for the last 4 hours. It was currently 3:54am and all she wanted to do was sleep. The rash that had started to form was rubbing with every movement she made and it started hurting.

There was a rhythmic pattern from raindrops on the window. As lightning flashed across the sky, she quickly pulled her blanket around her, tightly shutting her eyes as thunder boomed, echoing around the house. She took a couple deep breaths and lifted her head, leaning over to see if Louis was awake. To her surprise, he was out like a light, his feathery hair laying across his forehead. Madison couldn't understand how he was sleeping during the storm. She hated loud noises. Thunderstorms were her least favorite thing- right after spiders and doctor offices.

Madison took in a sharp gasp as a a couple branches hit the window. The rays from the moon were casting shadows on the floor. Her heart raced as she watched the movement and the noises piled on top of one another.  She sat up, scooting to the corner of her crib.
Her breathing picked up and she bit her lip, trying to stop tears from forming. She was overreacting as always and knew if she woke anyone up, she would be in trouble. She didn't want to think about the consequences if Louis woke up because of her.

Madison rested her head on her knees and focused on her breathing.

"You are okay. You are safe. I am never going to let anything happen to you as long as I can help it. Listen to me. Copy my breathing. In, out. In, out."

Madison couldn't help but think the words spoken to her earlier were true. They wouldn't lie to her, would they?

"No," she whispered, shaking off her thoughts.

Her head snapped up as she heard the soft creak of the door and light slowly poured into the room. She rubbed at her eyes, watching as a tired Liam walked into the room. His eyes looked sympathetic as they landed on the girl. Liam was quiet as he went towards the crib and unlatched the side.

She whimpered softly as he lowered the bars and reached his arms out for her. "Shh come here, baby."

Madison relished in his touch as he pulled her to his chest. He was warm. When she rested her tear stained cheeks on his shoulder, Liam cooed and wiped at her face.

"What's wrong, beautiful?"

"T-the storm. And the shadows," she mumbled against his neck, sniffing her runny nose.
He cooed as she was so vulnerable.

Liam didn't say much else. He didn't want to wake Louis. Once he was awake, the boy could hardly ever fall back asleep. Trying not to jostle Madison, he grabbed the plush fairy from her bed and made his way out of the nursery.

"Where are we going?"

"Don't worry, Bell. We're just gonna go sleep in Daddy and Papa's room."

"Why," her voice was getting softer and Liam could tell the more seconds passed the more sleep was coming over her. She was exhausted.

"Because, nothing, not even a mean, little storm can get you when you're with us."

Madison's heart fluttered as she closed her eyes, feeling her skin on his. She didn't know what was so comforting about it, but the smell that was always surrounding the young man was so alluring. She could sit and take it in all day.

She raised her head as Liam walked into their room and turned the lamp on. She saw Zayn on the opposite side. His hair was messy and laid out on the pillow and his forehead, unlike she had seen before. Typically it was styled. The soft light of the lamp illuminated on his face and she couldn't help but realize just how handsome he was. Both of them were.
