Miracles Can Happen

Dumbledores POV

I couldn't believe it. when they say no one can be bought back from the dead they mean it. but since when do the rules apply to the potters. when the "Irregular" magic alarm went off for Godric's hollow I was... rather surprised to say the least. no magic had been performed there for years. not after the fateful Halloween night, that took the life of two people, and spared the life of charlotte potter. 

but now that seemed to be erased. standing in front of him were the late Lily and James potter. to say I was shocked he would be an understatement. people just don't appear after being dead for the past fourteen years. this must be some form of miracle. 

"I think it's best you follow me," I say 

i make my way to the edge of Godric's hollow where I apparate the three of us to the edge of Hogwarts

"Sorry about that, a bit abrupt," I say 

"That's okay, nothing like apparating after being stuck in a box for merlin knows how long" replies James 

good to know that after 14 years James hasn't lost his touch. after making our way through Hogwarts, to my office, I gesture for them to take a seat. grabbing two flasks from the cupboard I pass one to James, and one to lily. 

"I need you to drink this" 

"What is it," asks James 

"It's truth serum, you idiot," says lily.  

downing the serum I got them to answer some basic questions. all of which they answered correctly. 

"Well, I am now certain that you are who you say you are. but I don't know how" I say 

"Dumbledore, what are you talking about," says lily.

"And where is our child," says James

sighing, I take a seat. dreading the fact that I am going to have explained to them all that they have mist. 

"James and Lily, how long do you think it has been since you have seen your daughter" 

"I don't know, a few months" replied lily

"Oh, dear me" I reply 

" what's wrong, what's happened," asked James getting panicked. 

"It has been 14 years," I say gravely 

"14 years, what were we doing for 14 years," says lily 

" you were believed dead... well you were dead, until moments ago"

" So why weren't you freaking out when we came out of nowhere," asked James 

"Because I knew. besides, if either of you were death eaters I would be the only one in the castle who you could harm"

"How are we alive if we were dead for 14 years," asked lily confused

"Charlotte wished that you would come back," I say 

"What does this mean," says lily 

"You were granted another chance at life," I say 

"But once your dead you can't come back," says James 

"This is a miracle James. this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so don't waste it" 

"What happened to our daughter," asked lily 

"Is she with Sirius?" asked James 

"Unfortunately Sirius was unfit to take care of her"

"Why, we specifically stated that if anything were to happen then Sirius would become legal guardian," they both said in unison 

"Sirius was in Azkaban for 12 years," I say 

"WHAT, what did he do to get landed in there," said James outraged 

"It's a rather long story, which I will let him explain," I said

"Of the topic of guardians for just a moment, how did she survive. the killing curse should have killed her" Said lily 

oh boy, this is going to be one long night
