It was hot. Like very hot. I felt myself sweating bullets. I didn't dare open my eyes, scared to see where I was. I tried to use my senses. I had to be somewhere where it's hot even in November. I smelled the air, smelling a tropical smell, and rain water. I had to be outside, or somewhere near the outside. I heard crickets chirping...wait...no, no. Not crickets. It was almost like tiny croaking. I gasped to what I was hearing.

These were the sounds of the coqui!

The coqui are small tiny frogs that reside in Puerto Rico. Which means I had to be in Puerto Rico!

I opened my eyes to see myself tied up to a palm tree. I was in a vacant area or lot. Next to me was some type of machine. There was IVs coming out of it. I looked up, and saw the sun was setting.

I closed my eyes and tried to focus on something. On anything. I had to find out what the hell was going to happen to me. I started to hear things.

"Soon...soon her power would come into me. Then no one could stop me."

That was the evil man from the office. The man that sounded so familiar. The man I wasn't allowed to see.

I was trying to see where the thoughts were coming from, but there was no one around me. Unless they were behind me, but I could only look about 3/4 my way. I was trying to untie the knot, which was tied really tight. Eventually I loosened it up a bit, allowing myself to get the knot out, and loosen my hands. It felt good to be freed, my wrists getting the blood flow it was being rejected before.

I started to see what the machine was. It was shaped like a box, but there was a monitor on it, almost like the ones in the hospital where they monitor your heart rate. The IVs coming out were obviously for putting them inside my veins, and most likely to extract blood. But why? What's so special about my blood?

"That girl is awake. I can feel it."

Shit. That man is coming. Well I might as well, just go with the flow. No one is here to fight for me. Alex isn't here. It's just me defending myself.

"I see you're awake."

I turned around slowly, not wanting to see the man's face, scared to see who this familiar voice was.

When I saw who it was, I gasped, almost passing out. I stood up straight to prevent that from happening.

"Dad?" I whispered. Was this the reason he left? Was this the reason him and Mom was always arguing? For me? To get something from me?

Wouldn't it just be easier to stay with us and wait till I make the change? I didn't understand.

"Yes. I'm sorry it had to come to this Kaiya."

"Why? What do you want from me?! What's the point of all this?!" I screamed.

"Well I want you. Well not you...your blood to be exact."

I gave him a confused look, not understanding what my blood has to do with anything.

"Let me explain a few things. You went through the change, correct?"

I nodded.

"So you must've discovered that you are the one the prophecies have been waiting for. You have abilities that everyone dreams of. While people like you, people like us, can only have one or, if they're lucky, two abilities, you have five abilities. That is truly amazing. But the difference between you and me, my daughter, is that I'm an Other. Now an Other are people who have the same abilities, but they're born the "wrong way". What does that mean? It basically means since our birth, we are evil, evil people. We were born with red eyes, and had an attraction for evil. But I think it is because we all think the same. We have always hated your kind. The Aces. You protect people, care for them, but why? When we can use our power to rule the world. To control the human race. They're weak compared to us."
