That, my friend, depends on the writer. If it's actually mating, then yes, normally. I have seen writers start with marking, then it leads to actually mating and aftercare is normally a part of the ritual too in some books I have read. Some have a celebration in honor of their first mating (i have read one or two like that.) and some don't. It's all up to the writer.
