"Good morning Lou."

Louis opened his eyes and was met by Harry's beautiful green ones. Five days had gone by and Harry's rut was over. Five days of wonderful sex and a sweet Harry that took care of him in every way possible. It made him feel lonely now that it was over. Harry wouldn't remember all the beautiful moments they shared. Louis was so confused! Why had Harry acted the way he did during his rut?

"Hey! Are you okay Lou?" Harry asked with a worried wrinkle between his eyebrows.

Just like he had been worried he wouldn't be a good Alpha when he was in a rut. Louis's throat was getting tight. Damn it! He was about to burst out in tears. He had to get out of there! Louis jumped out of bed and hurried to get dressed. Harry sat up.
"Louis! What's wrong?"

Louis tried to smile at him. He knew it wasn't convincing.
"Nothing, I just really need a shower. This was great. I'm good. See you later!"

Louis bolted out of the room and ignored Harry shouting his name. He could feel tears burning behind his eyes. He couldn't lie to himself anymore. He had managed to do the one thing he had promised himself he wouldn't do. He had fallen in love with Harry.

He ran into the house. The boys weren't there and he felt relieved. He didn't want to face them now. He was such a mess. He needed to clear his head. He needed his mum.

He ran to his bedroom and found a bag and started to throw down some clothes in it. He needed to move fast before Harry came to confront him. He didn't want to see the pitty in Harry's eyes when he told him that he had fallen in love with him. Not now. He needed to think.

He grabbed his car keys and headed for the front door. Harry opened it just as he was about to reach for the knob.
"Woah! Wait, where are you going?" Harry stared at him in disbelief.

"I'm going home to Donnie for a couple of days." Louis mumbled.

"Why?" Harry asked.

Louis shot him a quick glance. Harry looked hurt and confused.
"I need to see me mum, that's all."

"What did I do? Why are you running away? Please, Lou! Talk to me! Tell me what I did wrong!" Harry pleaded.

Louis looked at him briefly. Harry looked devastated.
"You didn't do anything wrong, Harry. You were really sweet. Don't worry. You were a good Alpha. You didn't hurt me. You took really good care of me."

Harry seemed to recognize those words. His eyebrows were wrinkled like he was thinking really hard, trying to remember something.
"I...why...don't go!" Harry pleaded again and took hold of Louis's arm.

"Please let go of me. I can't do this right now. I have to go." Louis whispered and his eyes were tearing up.

Harry let go of his arm and Louis walked out. He got in his car and hurried to drive off. Ten minutes later he had to pull over. He was crying so much that he couldn't see the road anymore.

He continued to drive as soon as the tear flow had calmed down a bit. He was still crying softly when he pulled in at the familiar house. His mum came out on the porch and he opened his car door and ran to her and threw himself in her warm embrace.
"Boobear! What's wrong?" she asked worriedly.

"It's so awful mum. I'm in love." Louis managed to get out between sobs.

"That's wonderful Boo. Why are you crying? Come in! Tell me everything from the beginning."

Jay lead him inside and they sat down at the kitchen table and Louis started to tell her everything about Harry. How Harry's scent had hit him from far away the first time they met and that Harry could smell him too. How Harry smelled better than anyone he'd ever met. How Harry had always been there for him from the moment they met. How Harry had managed to calm his inner Omega in distress by simply hugging him. How Harry had taken care of him while he was in heat. How Harry had defended him. How Harry had acted while he was in a rut, all sweet and caring and worried that he would hurt him. How he had finally realized that he was in love with the Alpha and had run out of there before he could get rejected and hurt.

Jay had listened to her son talk about this Harry patiently. Her smile grew bigger and bigger for everything Louis told her about the Alpha.
"Oh sweetie, I'm so happy for you! You met your soulmate!"

Louis's mouth fell to the floor.
"Huh? What makes you say that?"

Jay smiled at her clueless son.
"Lots of things. How you talk about him, how his scent affects you, how he interacts with you, how concerned he was about you during his rut. I think Harry already has figured out that you two are soulmates, he's just waiting for you to catch up." Jay winked.

Louis bit his lower lip.
"Do you think he likes me?

"I'm pretty certain he's deeply in love with you sweetie. Why don't you ask him yourself? He's the only one who can give you the answer for sure. That poor boy must be devastated if you just ran out on him after his rut without an explanation."

A mix of emotion washed over Louis. Disbelief, happiness, hope, love, doubt, guilt. Could his mum be right? If she was he had indeed just run away from Harry without a real explanation.

"I know that High school was hard for you and that Nick really hurt you. I know you don't trust that many people because of it but sweetie, there are good men out there. From the way you described him, Harry sounds like one in a million. You won the jackpot Boo! Go get him!"
