5. Family Arguments

Dinner Time...
First pov..

"You straight?" Leon asked me. I was now sitting in top of the toilet seat while he sat on the tub. I nodded feeling a little better.

"I'm hungry." I mumbled. He laughed shaking his head.

"Ok. Come on. I know momma down stairs. Please don't argue with her today." he said. I nodded. Even though she be the one that pick fights with me.

"Ok." I said standing up after Leon. He opened the door letting me walk out first. I straightened out my clothes before looking at him. He nodded. I took a deep breath calming my nerves. We walked downstairs going into the dining room.

Everyone was up helping except the kids. Jasmine and Khalil was in their high chair. Kieth turned around looking at us with a raised eyebrow. He looked at me guessing he knew what was wrong. He gave me nod towards the living room. I looked in there seeing mom talking to Kamiya. Kamiya was dying in laughter. I looked back towards Keith shaking my head. He nodded his head.

"Just try to talk to her for a minute until we get done." Leon said lowly. I sighed knowing I couldn't avoid her. I slowly walked in the living room with mom and Miya. Mom looked at me up and down.

"Hi mom." I said sitting on the couch in front of her. Kamiya played with doll ignoring us.

"Hi Kianna." she said staring at me. I'm sure she was looking at what I had on.

"I haven't seen you in a few weeks. How you doing?" I asked her. It's always hard to start a conversation with her without her trying to argue.

"I'm good. Where's Kali?" she asked.

"In the kitchen with-" I said but she cut me off by getting up and leaving to the kitchen. I sat there staring at where she was sitting.

"Granny can be a shot in the butt sometimes." Kamiya said looking at me. I nodded agreeing with her even though I didn't know what she meant.

"What does that mean?" I asked her raising my eyebrow at my niece.

"Granny can be a pain in the as-" she started but mom came back fussing at me.

"Stop teaching this child those unholy words! You should be ashamed of yourself." she said like I told her to say it.

"Momma I didn't tell her to say anything. So tone your voice down when talking to me." I said not taking my eyes off her.

"She's 6! She shouldn't be using those words, and you shouldn't be teaching her to talk about people." she yelled causing Jace to come in.

"What you yelling for ma?" Jace asked her frowning. "It can't be that serious." he said.

"It's not. She just want to ruin my day." I said. I'm tired of all of this. I just want to have dinner with my family and sister-in-law.

"Kamiya shouldn't be cussing at her age. She shouldn't be taught that either. Especially by somebody like you." Momma said pointing directly at me. I raised my eyes in surprise.

"Somebody like me? What the hell that's suppose to mean?" I asked getting offended. I was more than ready to leave before I slap the hell out of my own momma.

She laughed. "Exactly what I said. You can't keep a man, job, nor can you have kids. You're miserable. Nobody likes you." she said.

"I like auntie Kiki." Kamiya said looking at me. I gave Miya a small smiled snapping my head towards my mom.

"Whatever. I'll see y'all tomorrow. Give my nieces and nephews a kiss for me Jace." I said getting my things together. Momma laughed at me. Leon nem was now in there with us.

"Nah bruh. Everyone staying right here. Momma stop picking with Kianna. She yo daughter. Yo only daughter. When she finally get tired of yo bullshit she gon push you away and you gon feel some type if way." Kieth said.

"She started-" Momma started but Kieth cut her off.

"Ion care bout none of that. You in my house. Y'all can either act like adults and get along or get the fuck out. Especially if you over the age of 20." he said.

"You don't talk to me like that." Momma said.

"Momma I'm sorry for talking to you like that but you also talking to my sister crazy. So I gotta get both y'all straight. Then again I'm not sorry cause someone needa tell you." Kieth said. I ignored all of them as I looked at Leon. He was my ride home and I'm ready to go. Now.

"Leon I'm ready to go." I said.

"Come on Ki." Leon begged me.

"No you come on. I'm tired. It's getting late and I'm wasting my time trying to love someone who clearly doesn't give a fuck about me." I said getting fed up. I wanted to cry from all the feelings I felt.

"We not leaving right now Ki. I'm sorry." Leon said. I shrugged pulling my phone out.

"I'll get an Uber." I said going to the app. "I'm sorry to ruin your evening Kali. I promise to make it up to you." I told her. She nodded with a sad smile.

"Mother." I said walking pass her. Nobody said a thing else watching me walk out.
