"nick can you hurry up, you've been in the bathroom for an hour" edwin complained.

"why did we decide that getting ready at one house was the best decision?" zion asked clearly annoyed.

brandon rolled his eyes. this entire week had been an attitude roll for zion. they all missed ryan, but he was acting out worse than all.

after about 2 hours later, the boys were loading themselves into brandon's car and heading to the formal venue.

"hey can we stop by my house? i forgot my flower thing for emily" austin said.

they knew it was a lie because they had seen it in the backseat already but the boys went along with it.

after brandon, edwin, austin, and ryan finished scheming on how to get alexys to formal it was finally time.

"yo can you guys get off and help me look for it in my house because i don't know where it's at"austin begged.

nick groaned along with zion as they unbuckled their seat belts to get off.

austin ran inside to get alexys ready for nick.

"nick can you look in the closet next to the laundry room please" brandon suggested.

"why can't you look?" he rolled his eyes earning a glare from brandon.

"fine" nick threw his hands up before turning the knob on the door.

the house filled with anticipation and silence.

"surprise" her sweet voice said.

"alexys?" nick said stunned with the beauty in front of him.

nick opened his arms and embraced her in his arms.

edwin let out a sniffle.

"y'all did this?" nick asked.

"some part, most of it was ry" austin smiled.

zion couldn't help but look over his shoulder to find ryan there as well.

"sorry z, we tried getting her to come but she's tied up in LA right now" brandon said noticing zion.

"it's cool, wasn't even thinking about her" he lied.

"so you didn't go because you're scared of what he's going to say?" jack asked.

ryan had met jack at the coffee shop from around her house and due to the fact that she didn't have any friends in LA yet, jack was a solid acquaintance. the last 3 days the two had hung out nonstop.

"look it's not that simple, i genuinely liked this guy and i just left without even saying anything" ryan sipped her chai tea latte.

"i think that's total bullshit" jack rolled his eyes. "if you felt that way what makes you think he wouldnt? i've known you for like 3 days and i think i might be in love with you"

"please don't i just need a friend right now" ryan begged.

"i'm joking, but just think about it. we can go down to LAX right now and buy a plane ticket. i'll even go with you" jack said.

"i don't know jack"

"ry, be spontaneous!" he jumped up on her couch.

ryan took a deep breath before nodding.

"fine let's go to washington" she laughed

when the boys arrived to the aquarium where formal was at, they quickly set out to find their dates.

zion sat on a bench while the others took pictures.

"hi loner" arielle giggled taking a seat next to zion.

"where's your date arielle?" zion asked.

"dates are overrated, besides if i had one i could dance on anyone i wanted" she smiled, "where's yours huh?

"you drove her away to another state"

"so you'll be available tonight?" arielle perked up.

zion rolled his eyes focusing back on his friends.

"okay i get the hints, i'll leave now. but if you need a little something to take the edge off i have a flask of bourbon in my clutch" arielle teased before walking inside with her clique.

nope, you don't need it, zion repeated to himself.

"yo ima head inside now" zion yelled at austin

"give us like 5 minutes and we'll all head in together" austin said

"it's okay i gotta get something" zion said back, making austin simply nod his head.

this was gonna be a long night and alcohol was gonna make it go by a little faster.

"what does the location say?" jack asked ryan.

"well everyone else is at edwins house, but zion's has him in a mcdonald's parking lot" ryan pursed her lips.

after watching an episode of criminal minds, the boys and ryan had agreed to share locations with eachother in case anyone ever got kidnapped.

"mcdonald's sounds pretty good to me" jack smiled as he began to drive in the directions that ryan guided him.

the two pulled into the empty lot that only had two other cars.

neither of those were zion's. she did recognize the white benz but couldn't remember where she had seen it.

"are you sure we're at the right spot?" jack asked. "the only people inside right now are a couple kissing in the back booth and an old homeless man"

ryan fixated her eyes on the couple. she looked oddly familiar to ryan. the short, sleek, perfect hair nearly made her want to fight at the sight of it.

arielle.

the girl was arielle. that's why ryan recognized her car. but who was the guy?

the kissing freaks pulled away as ryan's heart dropped.

"jack drive now please"

"okay, where am i driving? what does zions location say?" the boy questioned.

"jack just drive anywhere please" her voice cracked.

it was now 3am and ryan still gad yet you say a word.

her and jack were currently parked outside of a starbucks. ryan had gotten down to use the restroom.

in all honesty, she didn't need to pee. she just needed some privacy to cry without jack next to her.

during her breakdown, jack had looked through ryan's phone to find the one person she wouldn't probably wang go actually talk to.

ryan finally came back outside 30 minutes later to find jack sitting on the hood of the rental car talking to someone else.

"about damn time you come out ry" his jersey accent shined through his words.

she couldn't help but run into his arms and bury her face in his chest where she began to cry once again.

"i missed you nicky" ryan whispered.

"i missed you too ugly" nick laughed.
