Rey groaned to the sound of her alarm clock. Her phone rang music that she had as her ring tone, Bottom Of The River. She slammed her hand on the snooze button and sat up.
4:30 great.
She thought as she rolled out of bed and walked to her bathroom. Her little apartment was a mess from the boxes but it was organized in some sort of way. "BB-8, can you make some breakfast for me, I'm going to get ready for school." She yelled as her droid rolled back and forth in front of the doorway, beeping, with pleasure as he passed.
She slid on some running black shorts and a tye dye tee shirt and pulled her hair in her signature buns. After practice clothes was backed next into her droid bag. Brown combat boots, vibrant blue jeans, and a resistance tee she was given. In this part of Texas, there are rivals in town and she had to choose before arriving which to join, First Order or Resistance.
She smiled at her packed clothes and took her bag, instrument, and school bag into the kitchen. BB-8 was happily fixing eggs as he rocked on the counter. "Hey BB, what's for breakfast?" Rey asked taking a peace of egg.
The droid beeped in response. "Ahh breakfast tacos, my favorite!" Rey exclaimed as she fixed her breakfast.
She ate quick, trying to be on time and rushed out the door with her droid following close behind. She got into her car and started driving to the school. As she walked up, the band hall lights turned on and a small face appeared in the window. She walked up and into the band hall.
The band hall was mostly purple and white, indian painted on the walls and lockers and trophies lined the back.
"Hello." I male voice said catching her and BB-8, attention. "Hi." Rey waved at the man, he was a tall guy, with black pants and a plain cream colored tee and a resistance jacket she saw a couple of times as she drove to school. "I'm Poe, head section leader of the Saxophones, who might you be?" Poe asked as he crossed his arms and shifted his weight. "Rey, 1st chair Bass Clarinetist, Junior. This is my droid BB-8." Rey spoke gesturing to her droid. "Well nice to meet you. You have been the resistance talk for a while. Are you on the resistance?" Poe asked flashing a small smile to her. She returned the smile and nodded. "Well, welcome. I'll show you your locker." And with that he walked into the locker room as Rey ran off to catch up.
"Hey y'all!" Poe said shaking the hand of a shorter man who wore a black tee and workout shorts. "Finn, this is Rey, Rey finn. She is out new Bass Clarinetist." Poe said gesturing to Rey. She smiled and held out a hand and shook his. "Nice to meet you, I like your droid." Finn said earning a giggle from Rey and a lighter to pop out from BB-8 and flick up like a thumbs up. Poe and Finn laughed at the droid and got into deep conversation about the band and the rivalry in the First Order and Resistance.
Mean while, a tall man was driving to band practice. Ben solo, the leader of the First Order. Ben was having his usual depressing thoughts as he drove to school.
You're worthless, nothing to nobody.
He had dug himself in a hole he couldn't escape and he drifted farther from home as he became more active with the First Order. He pulled into the parking lot and parked next to a new car he had never seen.
He got out and examined it. A resistance sticker sat on the back right of the car.
Great. More resistance people.
He thought ad he walked into the band hall. He heard a new voice from his side of the locker room and went to inspect. When turning, he was confronted with beeps and jams to the leg. He felt little pain as he looked down to see a ball like thing ram into him once more. "BB-8, leave him alone!" Came a new voice. He watched the ball roll back to its owner and was surprised at the new face that laid in front of him.
"Sorry, my droid is very judgy." Rey said picking up her droid. Ben was at a loss for words. What stood in front of him was a gorgeous girl with freckles on her nose and cheeks and sweet brown eyes. "No worries." He finally said and turned to his locker and loaded up his instrument. He walked off and back to the main room. "Who was that?" Rey asked looking back at Poe and Finn. "Ben Solo, betrayed his family and friends to join the First Order." Poe said as Rey set BB-8 down. "And the leader of the gang, bad news, I suggest staying away from him" Finn added as Rey turned to them. "C'mon he can't be that bad, everyone has a little light in them right?" Rey said frowning at her team. "Sure..."
After practice, Rey found herself getting ready in a bathroom instead of a locker room. She bumped into some girls but she got in and out fast. She made it back to her small group and BB-8 and packed her things up. As she talked to Finn and Poe, Ben couldnt help but watch her intensely. He had her marked as "Sunshine" in his brain, she acted so different from everyone else and it made him want to know her more.
As her and her friends walked out, Ben followed after them, wondering what her schedule was. "Wait, we have First, Third, Sixth, and Eighth together!!" Rey exclaimed as she read her paper. He followed behind at a distance as they walked up the stairs to the top floor.
They small group walked into an ELA class. Ben read his schedule and sure enough,that was his classroom. He walked in and stood in the far corner as the teacher called out names to desks. "Poe, Finn, Rey, and Ben, y'all sit at desk 3" The teacher said pointing to a desk with 4 seats.
They walked over and sat quietly. "So, Rey where are you from?" Finn asked with a smile as he sat down across from her. She smiled and said "Florida, I just got here yesterday and my apartment still needs to be set up. Would y'all like to come over and help me finish my apartment?" Rey pulled out her notebook that read "ELA" on the front.
"Sure, we can just take your car and head over, then we can get some food!" Poe said smiling at Rey and Finn. Ben sat quietly thinking about Rey. How much sunshine she brought into his life even though he never talked to her. His storm cloud of horrible feelings had finally dissipated as her sunshine peered through his clouds. Rey was a fitting name for her as her personality was like sunshine and good vibes.
"Ben, would you like to join us?" Rey caught his attention, dragging him out of his daze. He took a while to respond as he looked at the beautiful sight in front of him. "Sure." He finally whispered and the class started.
4 classes later, Band had started. Rey rushed in to the band hall and quickly assembled her instrument and ran to her seat. She and the rest of the band played happily with each other and the day continued smoothly.
Ben waited in the band hall talking to some of his friends but mostly thinking about Rey and her sweet personality.
Speak of the devil.
He thought as Rey entered the Band hall with Finn and Poe following close behind and her droid rolling on the ground. He smiled and walked over. "Oh hey Ben, you ready?" She asked flashing him her soft and sweet smile.
He returned the smile as she and her friends grabbed their instruments and walked out to her truck.
