What If I Say

Johnny POV

I need to come up with a way for Kenzie to talk to me, fast. It's been a week since we spoke, and that's the longest we've ever gone without speaking before.

Every one of our friends is working today except Asher, so we're carpooling. There's some group scenes we have to film for Total Eclipse, Hayden is filming his return scene for Chicken Girls while Annie has to film a few random scenes, and Kenzie and I have to film a few scenes together. I'm not entirely certain what scenes her and I are filming today, but I'll find out soon, I'm sure.

"C'mon, John. Why aren't you excited for today? You and Kenzie get to shoot cute couple scenes today because Brat ships Jenzie too," Hayden says, barging into my room unannounced.

"When the hell did you get here?" I ask confused. I'm still in my pajamas, mind you. I refuse to change out of them just to change into clothes I'll wear for an hour, max before wardrobe whisks me away.

"I've been here for half an hour, and so has everyone else. We're leaving in twenty minutes and I'm pretty sure no one's filming when you and Kenz kiss, so everyone's going to watch," he informs me. Great, now everyone gets to watch this awkwardness.

"Shit. That's after lunch though, right?" I ask, a plan formulating in my head. I just need to write a song.

"Yeah, it's after lunch. What are you plotting?" Asher asks, walking in.

"It involves a song and epic speech," I reply, grabbing my guitar. This plan could work, right? Both of their faces fall, looking disappointed.

"Dude, it's Mackenzie Ziegler we're talking about here. She's not a girl who likes songs and big romantic gestures. Think of something simple, yet romantic. Like what Annie did in the Stay music video," Hayden suggests and Asher lightly punches his shoulder. "Ow!"

"I make no apologies for that, but seriously, Hay, must we discuss that? You have a girlfriend, and I'm dating her. The idiot's right, though, Johnny. Some big romantic gesture isn't going to get her back. Let's think smaller, but still romantic," Asher suggests.

Kenzie POV

I hate my life right now. Johnny and I never even kissed before, and now we have to kiss on set.

"Hey Kenz, why so glum?" Em asks, walking into my room. I've changed out of my pajamas because, unlike some people, I think it's important to not spend all day in pajamas.

"I have to kiss John today, and we broke up a week ago. We haven't even spoken since then!" I sigh, putting my head in the pillow. This is hell.

"Oh my God, Kenz! Stop being so melodramatic! So what, you haven't spoken to him in a week and have to kiss him today? You broke up with him! Wait, does this mean- you still like John, don't you?" Annie asks, plopping onto my bed. Of course I still like him, but he probably hates me.

"It doesn't matter if I do like him, because even if I do, he definitely doesn't. I broke his heart, Anns! I would hate me if I was him," I sob into my pillow and she rubs my back. It oddly helps calm me down.

"Have you seen him this week?" She asks me and I shake my head; I've been avoiding him like the Beubonic Plague. "Well, I have. And he looks crushed, don't get me wrong, but he also looks actually sorry for what he said. He's plotting something, a big romantic gesture would be my guess."

"Oh God, no, please not a big romantic gesture! Yeah, those are amazing, but no, I don't want one for me!" I whine, groaning into my pillow. This is not an ideal situation to start with, but him making some big romantic gesture will just make this a million times worse than it already is.

"You sound like Rosa Diaz right now. Look, do you like him?" Annie asks and I nod my head. "Good. Go, tell him! Get your mans back, because I guarantee that he likes you too."

That sounds like a terrible idea. It's Johnny; he's probably moved on already. "I refuse."

"That's for the better because Ash just texted me and apparently something special is happening at lunch!" Anns squeals and I roll my eyes.

"LeBlanc, this is a bad thing! Please tell him I want no part of a big romantic gesture," I beg and she laughs.

"Whatever, Ziegler. He already told me it's not a big romantic gesture, sadly," she chuckles. "Now, come on, we look hot and both have boys awaiting our presence."
