Roman wasn't entirely wrong. Virgil sighed as he shifted his hoodie while the two walked. It had been some time since they could actually hang out like this. Roman is always busy. ALWAYS busy. Virgil spent all his time with Remus for the most part. He'd hang with the younger one keeping him happy while he was often under lockdown for doing or saying something he shouldn't have. Remus didn't seem to mind the punishment much as long as Virgil stopped by to visit him. It was Roman who had actually told the older prince Remus doesn't handle solitude well.
He didn't mind. Remus was a good guy. He's learned to ignore or even find humor in the things Remus says and does. That, of course, makes Roman happy. Knowing Virgil gets along so well with his younger brother means everything to him and Virgil knew that. Just as he knows this 'not spending any time together' thing is driving him up a wall. Virgil wants to help Roman, but... There really isn't anything the two can do. Unless Virgil is allowed into all that royal mumbo jumbo, they both have to either deal or wait it all out. Virgil was willing to do just that though.
There was just something... something in the back of his mind telling him he had to. He had to be with Roman. He had to do whatever it took to be with Roman. If that meant only seeing him at night, then that's what it meant. Being apart from Roman physically hurt him. He couldn't even think about it without his chest hurting. He didn't understand it but... He loved Roman. That's all that mattered to him.
"Oh Hey! VIRGIL!" Virgil froze up with a huge smile on his face as he turned to see Thomas running over to them. "I can't believe you're here. I haven't seen you in what 5 months!"
"Thomas!" Roman literally growled making Virgil laugh seeing his eyes go red. "Relax, Roman." Virgil hugged Thomas tightly with a smile as the other pulled away with a laugh. "How was the play? I'm sorry I never got to see it."
"It went perfectly. Everyone was amazing. And don't worry about it, Virgil... I figured you were busy. After the guards took you I just assumed you were with Roman again."
"Yes, he is... and he still is. So if you can excuse..."
"Roman!" Roman froze in his spot as Virgil glared at him. "Thomas is a friend. I understand how you feel but I already told you it's fine." Roman's eyes narrowed as Virgil kissed him softly. "It's fine, Ro. I promise."
"I don't trust him." Thomas burst out laughing as Virgil slapped the younger's arm. "What? I don't."
"It's fine. It's... a first, it's fine. He's probably just jelly Virgil."
"Yeah... Crofters jelly." Roman flushed with embarrassment as Virgil beamed. "Considering how much of it he eats."
"Hey, Crofters is good. I don't judge him." Thomas smiled as he took Virgil's hand softly making Roman clench his jaw, his eyes flashing even brighter. "You are good now though, right? I see you're back with Roman. So... that pain has died down?"
"Pain? What pain?" Virgil frowned as Roman snapped out of his jealousy the moment he heard. "Virgil, what is he talking about?"
"It's nothing. I'm fine." Virgil shot Thomas a look making the other one holding his hands up in surrender. "No pain. I'm ok."
"Hey, I was about to go grab some lunch. Why don't you two join me?" Roman was already starting to shake his head when Virgil's hopeful look stopped him.
"Please, Ro?" Roman sighed as he nodded melting into the excited look Virgil got. "Oh, thank you!"
"Anything for you, Love." Thomas's smile fell as Virgil slammed into Roman hugging him. His eyes narrowed as the two kissed softly before smiling again when Virgil turned back to him.
"Why don't we check out that one place I was going to take you... the one by the beach?" Virgil nodded furiously as Roman pulled him in close.
"I'll lead the way then." Roman mumbled as he walked off for Thomas to follow.
"Yep... You lead the way." Thomas rolled his eyes as he stuffed his hands into his pants and mumbled under his breath. "...princey."
The three made their way to the beach and Virgil lit up. His eyes shined as he stared off into the lake. He could see the castle and everything. Roman smiled fondly as Virgil ran out like a small child, giggling as his feet hit the sand.
"I should have taken you here sooner if I knew you'd love it so much." Virgil practically glowed as he knelt down to pick a shell up, this look in his eyes. "Pretty aren't they? Shells are often used for decoration. We can take some home, if you want to?"
"They're so pretty." Roman nodded as Virgil held it so delicately in his hand. "It's so... I don't know. Hey, Roman? Do you think they have shells big enough to put flowers in?" The way Virgil's eyes shined as Roman and him walked the shoreline showed immense wonder. He was sho childlike and pure you could tell Roman melted at the sight. Meanwhile, Thomas just stood there with a natural gaze at it all. He watched as Roman held Virgil close. He watched the two kiss. He watched the two literally beam in each other's presence.
"This is not going to end well." Thomas whispered to himself as he narrowed his eyes. "The Kings of the Darklands... and neither even know of who they are. Fucking Cassidy!" Thomas growled as he tried to reign himself in. He took a deep breath before calming down. "If he had down his job right... I wouldn't be forced into this position. Of course... if he had done his job right... I wouldn't be this close either."
"Hey Thomas, what are you doing?" Virgil yelled out with a laugh catching the older's attention. "Come on, slowpoke!"
"I'm coming... Hold your horses, Stormfly!" Thomas's eyes narrowed as Virgil turned away. "I'm coming..." His eyes flashed a cool blue as he smirked softly. "...my king."
