"This is what you meant, wasn't it?" Roman spoke softly as he stood there next to Eve, watching the two dragons set up a place for Roman to lay down without risking Virgil who was still in the bed. At least now he wasn't flickering. Roman had to hope it was because he heard him ask him to just hold on a bit longer. "When you said one of us must die... you meant this."
"Yes. Yes, I did." Roman smiled sadly as his eyes narrowed a bit in thought.
"The way you worded it though, has me confused." Eve just glanced over to see Roman still just watching everything patiently. "I mean... It's obvious that one of us 'will' die. If I never accepted then Virgil would die. If I fail then Virgil will die. If I succeed but don't get back, I die. You even said that... I will not come back so... It's obvious that just me simply choosing this option means that I die. One of us will die and at the very least it will be me. So... Why did you say one of us 'must' die?"
"Because there is more than one way for a person to die, Roman." Roman's eyes widened a bit as Eve smiled more. "I never said how it was that you would perish. I simply said that it was unavoidable. This task of saving Virgil WILL kill you. However, you MUST die in order to be successful." Eve held her hand out revealing a vial with light baby blue liquid and Roman frowned. "This is a very special potion."
"It's poison." Eve's eyes went wide as Roman gently picked it up as carefully as he could. His eyes flashed red as he swirled the bottle about and glance back at Eve knowingly. "It's a poison made his fairy dust."
"How the fuck..." Cassidy murmured as Thomas simply frowned seeing his son's confusion.
"I don't know, Cassidy. I just know, ok." Roman frowned as he held it up to his eyes and frowned more. "I just... feel it."
"Yes, It's a poison made with fairy dust. Specifically... It kills anyone who isn't a fairy." Confusion filled Roman's eyes as he just stared at the liquid. "What?"
"I don't sense danger." Eve's smile only grew as Roman handed it back to her. "You said it kills everyone except fairies. I'm human. It would kill me. I'm just confused about why I don't sense any danger from it."
"I don't know, Roman. Maybe it's because that's what you will be drinking." Thomas growled as he stepped back from the makeshift bed with a frown. "Isn't it?"
"Yes." Eve responded as she held the vial up. "Roman... In order to find and latch on to that small piece of you, you have to kill off everything else. Should you not find it in time, you will die. This poison will eat away at you slowly giving you as much time as any of us can give you."
"Right, drink the poison... find the inner magic me... and save Virgil." Eve frowned as watched Roman sit on the makeshift bed, getting himself comfortable. She handed the vial back over and watched as he uncorked it only to make his eyes go a bright red again.
"It won't be that simple Roman. You don't just have to FIND the inner magic you as you put it... You have to call on it... strengthen it... Become it. Otherwise, you will die... and so will Virgil." Roman nodded as he held the vial in his hands.
"Cassidy? Thomas?" The two dragons paused as Roman smiled softly with tears in his eyes. "If I succeed and Virgil wakes up... Tell him... Tell him I love him and that I'll always be there with him... he never be alone... even if he feels like it."
"Come back and tell him that yourself." Cassidy said as he moved to hold the back of Roman's head, handing the crown to Thomas who placed it on the table beside him. "Don't die and I won't have to."
"We all know... I am going to die." Roman smiled as he put the vial to his lips. "It's just a matter of saving Virgil before I do." The youngest pour tilted the bottle back draining the vial's contents into his mouth, making his eyes flash such a bright red it was disorienting. Before he could even think, Roman swallowed it all in one gulp, plunging himself into the black of the void.
Ice filled his veins as he shivered and shook. Fog filled the air with every breath as he hugged himself against the chill. He was always good at keeping himself warm. Even when Virgil made Rosa feel more like winter Roman was still able to stay heated. This... This felt like all the heat was just pulled straight out of him. That's when he realized what Eve meant...
"Don't lose your fire." Roman laughed at himself as he looked around the endless black.
"HELLO?!" Roman called out with a slight giggle. "MAGIC ROMAN! BITCH WE GOTTA TALK!" Roman shivered as he slowly moved his way through the void. "Please?" Roman frowned as his eyes met with nothing but the endless black. "I... I have to save Virgil. So... Shit, I should have asked HOW I was supposed to find it."
"You don't." Roman spun around to see a dark figure standing there with dark red eyes, a sword at his hip. "You don't find anything, Roman."
"Who the fuck are you?" The figure laughed as he took a step forward making Roman crash at the sight of himself standing there in front of him. Well, it wasn't really him. This version had ashen grey skin, blackened hair, and demon-like black and red eyes. His outfit, where Roman's was red and orange ombre like, his was an inverted blue and green.
"I'm what's going to kill you." The Dark one pulled his sword out and grinned evilly as he pointed it at Roman. "Just try to fight me. You have no weapon... You have no magic. You're powerless."
