Asher POV

I carry the last box from the truck upstairs, sitting down on the bed of my room and looking around.

It's mostly empty.

The only thing filling the room are all of the boxes inside along with the bed of course.

It's not the same as my room in my old house when I lived here.

It's bigger and has its own bathroom unlike in my old house where I had to share a bathroom with my older sister, Mae.

I wonder how the old house looks.

Is it the same?

Is it a different color?

Are the rooms different?

Thoughts like this rush into my mind and I can't help but think of the memories I had in this exact neighborhood in that exact house.

Inviting friends over to play video games.

Staying up late and acting dumb.

And then one memory in particular stands out to me.

Me in a pillow fort.

With my moms laptop, watching movies and laughing.

But I'm not alone.

Briana is there....

Smiling and laughing with me.

Making jokes.

No worries.

My mom coming into the fort and bringing us cookies.

Me being embarrassed by her and Bri being thankful and talking to her.

What happened to that?

Right.

I sigh and run my fingers through my hair.

My mom knocks on the door frame and I look up.

"Hey hun. How are you settling in so far?" My mom asked with a smile.

"It's too soon to tell. But so far it's nice I guess." I say.

"Once you start meeting new people or even reconnecting with old friends, I'm sure it'll start feeling more like home. You'll settle in no time." She said, walking to me and rubbing my back reassuringly.

"Yeah I hope so ma." I nod.

She gets up.

"Anyways, I should go unpack, and you should too." She says.

I nod as she leaves the room.

I sigh and get up, starting to unpack.

I start thinking of what my mom said about reconnecting with old friends.

I wonder if I should try contacting any of them.

Are they still living here?

Are they any different?

I mean I lost contact with most of them after I moved.

I have no idea what they're doing now.

I sigh and try to shake off all of the stress.

It's going to be a long day.
