SCENE TWO
(By the end of the song, JEREMY has landed outside play practice with MICHAEL. He hesitates, then decides not to go in.)
"Am I really that scary?" Christine asks, turning to Jeremy.
Rich answers for him, "You do come off a bit...thtrong at firtht, Chrithtine." They frown and look to everyone else, only to find them nodding in agreement with Rich.
"Sorry, Chrissy," Jenna says to Christine, pulling them into a side hug.
JEREMY
Woah! I guess evolution's not for everyone.
MICHAEL
You don't have to do this.
Michael raises his eyebrows, "That does not sound like me."
Of course, I'll mock you forever if you don't.
"Ah. That's more like me."
(JEREMY pumps himself up.)
JEREMY

(He enters... and finds CHRISTINE.)

"Oof, that's totally how you flirt man," Jake says, cringing a bit.
CHRISTINE

JEREMY
Is this where you meet for the play?
Chloe laughs, "No, it's where you meet for the swim team."
CHRISTINE
No. This is where you meet for the swim team.
Chloe looked shocked.
(off Jeremy) I'm joking.
JEREMY
Oh, well I'm Jeremy!
Multiple laughs where heard around the room making Jeremy bury his head in Michael's hair from embarrassment. Said boy just tapped his arm in sympathy.
(He stands there awkwardly for a beat.)
CHRISTINE
Are you okay?
JEREMY
Uh, what?
CHRISTINE
You seem nervous.
"Uh, you think?" Jenna says, rolan her eyes. (Haha 😌)
JEREMY
No, I always (realizes this is dumb but commits to saying it anyway) sweat this much.
"I mean he does," Michael mumbles.
CHRISTINE
I get it. You're a virgin.
Peoples eyes widen.
(off JEREMY) First play rehearsal!
"Oh."
JEREMY
(realizes) You think I'm nervous about the play!
CHRISTINE
Why else would you be shaking? A lot?
"Cause he likes youuu." Brooke sings.
"Liked." Jeremy corrects. Brooke just nods.
JEREMY
Um, yeah, I'm like totally freaked.
CHRISTINE
It's okay. I'm a little jealous actually. You never forget your first. Play
