The funeral was hard.

It was lonely, dull and sad. No one tried to talk to the girl silently sitting at the front of the crowded church, the two caskets a few meters in front of her. If she stood, she could reach it... but what was the point? The ten-year-old knew that nothing could bring back the two people that laid inside the hardwood, no heart-beats, no breath, no pulses.

She was finally broken. It sounds like something you would say about someone's mental state, but no. This girl was broken.

Mentally, she couldn't think straight. She couldn't find the will to even cry, god-forbid crack a smile.

She felt sick suddenly. Her parents had died in a fire. It's like the realisation really hit her as she stared at the coffins in front of her.

Maybe they were made of Oakwood, or maybe Ashwood. She stared at the caskets, trying to work out what they were made of as an attempt to take her mind off of the crowds of people around her and the coffins in front of her that belonged to her parents.

"Hey Y/n..." the girl heard a small voice speak beside her, and she looked up to see her close friend Richie Tozier standing beside her.

"Hi Richie," she replied, voice no higher than a whisper as Richie moved to sit beside her.

"I- um... Are you okay?"

"Yes," was all the young girl replied.

Richie didn't say anything after that, just moved to wrap his arms around the girl. Then the waterworks started.

Although she was broken over her parent's death, she knew she would have to get over it. She had the Losers Club, she had her friends. And sure, she might have a mean aunt and terrible cousins she had to live with now that her parents were gone, but she would survive.

(yes i lowkey got the idea from harry potter yall dont need to keep sayin it in the comments damn😭)

She would live, and although it would hurt, she could get through this.
