Ember's first class for the day was Charms with the Ravenclaws.  She walked to class from the Great Hall with her roommate Katherine and a couple of other Gryffindor 1st year girls.

"Are you ready for our first class?  I heard it can be pretty hard, but Proffessor Flitwick in really nice, expecially to first years.  He's the Head of Ravenclaw House, like how Professor Mcgonagall is to Gryffindor."  explained Katherine to Ember as they walked to class.  Katherine had taken it upon herself to inform Ember as much as she could about the Wizarding World, in exchange Ember, reluctantly, promised to explain more about the muggle world and answer any questions Katherine had about it.

"What do we do in Charms excatly?"  asked Ember.

"There's a lot of things for Charms, so I'm not sure what we'll be learning first.  I only kinda know some really basic ones I read about a bit ago."  admitted Katherine.  Ember nodded as they walked into the classroom.

"Welcome, welcome first years!  Go ahead and find a seat.  It will likely be your seat that you will be in until Christmas, so choose wisely." Said a stange looking man of short stature with dark brown parted hair and a handled mustache.

"That's Professor Flitwick, he's part Goblin."  explained Katherine when she noticed the curious look on Ember's face.

"Oh, that makes sense."  Ember muttered to herself.  Why would someone mate with a goblin?  She questioned to herself.  She didn't really pay attention to where she was going as she just followed Katherine and took the open seat next to her.  Ember's attention was drawn as she saw a young Ravenclaw girl  she vaguely regonized being walked into class by an older Ravenclaw boy.

"Ah, Mr. Kim Namjoon!  Its so nice to see you!  You're not in this class until later today."  said Professor Flitwick.

"Likewise Professor, I'm actually just bringing my friend here to class. Its her first year and first class so she was a bit nervous.  This is Hazel May Halls."  introduced Namjoon.

"Halls hmm?  Are you Matthew Halls's daughter by chance?"  asked Professor Flitwick to Hazel.  Who nodded.

"Yes, he is my father. He was a Gryffindor."  replied Hazel.

"Ah, yes.  Excellent student.  I'm sure you will be to, being sorted into Ravenclaw is known to be great students."  smiled Professor Flitwick.  Hazel smiled.

"Well I best be off to class, don't want to be late.  See you later, Hazel."  waved Namjoon as he left.  She waved back at him shyly before walking up towards where Katherine and Ember were sitting with some other Gryffindor girls.  Other students were slowly trickling in.  Hazel turned and went into the row right infront of Katherine and Ember as she sat down and started taking out papers, quils, ink, and her book.  Katherine let out a little giggle and Ember turned towards her.

"She's one of thoooose Ravenclaws."  whispered Katherine.  "The antsy kind that's a teacher's pet."  Ember glanced back from Katerine to Hazel who was already flipping through pages in her copy of The Standard Book of Spells.

"And did you see that boy she was with?  That's the Kim Namjoon, he's from one of the most prominent pure blood familes that moved her from Asia.  He's in the same year as my brother.  He's also on the captian of the Ravenclaw Quidditch.  One of the youngest captians, ever.  I wonder how in the world she got his attention."  muttered Katherine.  Ember wasn't all that interested in this information that Katherine was providing her.  She usually wasn't much for what she thought was mainly just gossip.  She did recognize Hazel as the girl that had came up and introduced herself to Ember before the Sorting Ceremony.

"What makes him being a pureblood so important?"  asked Ember mildly curious.

"Well in the Wizarding World being a pure blood means that both your parents come from long lines of witches and wizards.  If you have one magical parent and a nonmagical parent your a half blood, or if your parent is a muggle born.  Otherwise like I told you before if you have no magic parents you are a muggle born.  Lots of pureblood wizards are seen as really prestigous and high class compared to the rest of us.   Both my parents have magic, but my mother was a muggleborn, like you, but I only grew up in the Wizarding World."  explained Katherine.

"I still don't get why that matters."  muttered Ember.

"To some people it doesn't, but to others it is everything.  Especially in Slytherin, I don't even know if there is a non-Slytherin pureblood, or atleast one that doesn't go around talking about it.  You tend to get more respect if you are from a well-known or pureblood family."  continued Katherine.

"It really shouldn't matter, some people can be purebloods or half-blood and be an incompetent witch or wizard."  a new voice broke in to the conversation.  Both Ember and Katherine looked forward with shock that she had been listening.

"Also you shouldn't talk about someone when they are right in front of you, it's rude."  commented Hazel without even bothering to look  back at them as class began to start.  Neither Ember or Katherine could reply as Professor Flitwick began to speak and start the class.  Class was realitivly easy for the first day, mostly talking about what charms were and some of the history of them.  They got assigned some homework and class was over.   Ember watched as Hazel put her stuff away and let Katherine walk ahead without her.

Hazel started heading for the door and Ember caught up with her.  Hazel looked at her with a bored look.

"What do you want?"  asked Hazel slightly annoyed.

"I wanted to apologize.  Katherine shouldn't have said those things about you.  I'm sorry I didn't say anything."  admitted Ember.  It was kinda hard since Ember didn't like to admit when she had done something wrong.

"Its not your fault, she was the one who said those things.  You're Ember, right?"  asked Hazel as they walked down the corridor out of the classroom.

"Yep, that's me." Ember replied with a smile.  "I'm kinda surprised you remebered."  It was Hazel's turn to smile.

"I have a pretty good memory when it comes to people."  she replied.

"What class do you have next?"  asked Ember.

"Potions with Slytherin.  How about you?"  asked Hazel.  Ember was actually kinda suprised with the lightness that Hazel had talked about class with Slytherins.  She would have thought that with her comment about purebloods before that she wouldn't like them.

"I have History of Magic with the Hufflepuffs."  replied Ember.

"Ooof, I heard that class can be a long one, apprently the professor is a ghost."  smiled Hazel.

"Really?  That's pretty cool, well I better get to class now.  See you around?"  asked Ember hopefully.

    "Definetly."  smiled Hazel.
