"How dare you tell me you couldn't bring her here?!" Hugh yelled throwing his desk without a sweat.

"I-I'm sorry, alpha. The alpha of the blue moon pack got involved, killing the others in the process." Hugh's beta replied, trembling before him, this made Hugh pissed. He hates it when people get involved in his business.

"I only survived because I ran away. It looks like she is in the care of alpha Roy."

Before Donald could realize what was happening, he was pinned to the wall, his feet off the ground as his alpha strangled him, his claws digging into his skin.

"She is mine and mine alone!" Hugh growled, his angry yellow eyes bore into his beta's almost lifeless ones.

He threw his beta with so much force making him slam his body hard against the wall. Donald's vision started to blur, his strength leaving him.

"Get me, Alan." He heard his alpha say before going unconscious.

For three days Kimberly remained locked in her bedroom ignoring Christine's everyday plea to come out and eat, she couldn't stop herself from crying. They were all the same, all of them. They lied about everything right from the beginning, acting like they cared when in reality they didn't, they are all monsters, bloodthirsty monsters!

Kimberly had no idea why deep down she felt differently. It upsets her that she still feels a deep attraction towards Roy, the urge to run into his arms for comfort comes every time and she hates that feeling. She was trying hard to remain mad at him and feel betrayed and hurt by his actions but was failing miserably.

Having a sudden need for fresh air, she stepped out of her bedroom, carefully making her way downstairs, she tiptoed to make sure Christine didn't see her but she was wrong.

"Thank God you're okay. You got me quite worried." Christine suddenly said out of nowhere making her cringe.

How did she know she was out of her room?

"I didn't mean to scare you. I, um. I perceived your scent and couldn't help but check on you... I know you're now aware of everything. I'm so sorry we had to keep it away from you to prevent you from getting scared."

'Bloody werewolf senses! She could've made it to the door unnoticed if they were humans.' Kimberly thought to herself feeling slightly annoyed.

"Sweetie, I know you must be hungry. I made some-"

"I need some fresh air," Kimberly said cutting her off, this made Christine sad and Kimberly could see it. She was a bit touched and wanted to apologize immediately but she needed to keep up her act.

"O-okay. Go ahead." Christine quietly said and turned around, returning to the kitchen.

"Hello?" Alan answered after two rings.

"Hello, beta Alan, this is beta Donald of the white moon pack."

"What do you want?" Alan said through gritted teeth. He couldn't believe these people, they had the guts to call after breaking the law that had been keeping both packs at peace for years.

"Alpha Hugh wants to have a word with you, it's important. He wants you to meet him tonight by the lake at the boundary."

Alan contemplated for some seconds to reply. Would it be a good idea to talk to Hugh after what he did?

Donald on the other end waited patiently for Alan's reply because he didn't want to upset his alpha more than he already has.

After letting out a heavy sigh, Alan decides to give Donald his reply.

"Fine. Tell him I'll be there by 9:00 pm." With that, he ended the call.

Later that night, Alan told his wife Christine that he was going for a walk, he decided to keep his meeting with Hugh a secret from her so she wouldn't get worried.

"Come back soon, okay?" she said to him, kissing him before he left the house.

Alan felt guilty for keeping the truth away from his mate but it was best this way. He would go see what Hugh wants and return home on time without his mate freaking out about his whereabouts.

He walked a reasonable distance away from the pack before taking off his clothes behind a tree and shifting into his wolf form to get there sooner. While running in the woods, he wondered why Hugh wanted to see him.

What did he want to talk about?

They hadn't set eyes on each other for decades now and suddenly he required his presence, which was weird.

On getting close to the lake, Alan could already perceive two unfamiliar scents and Hugh's unmistakable scent. He slowed his pace until he eventually stopped running, walking slowly instead towards the three werewolves, shifting back to humans.

When he was a little distance from them, Hugh, the largest of the three werewolves stepped forward and shifted to his human form which the others soon copied.

"What is it you want, Hugh?" Alan asked with no emotion, he needed to get this over and done with. He only hopes it isn't some sort of trap.

"Well, well, well. It's good to see you too, Alan... Or should I say, uncle..." Hugh replied with a smirk.

"You know... That is no way to greet a family you haven't seen for so long." He continued.

"I have no time for pleasantries."

"It doesn't surprise me since you're always in a hurry to go be with your favorite nephew." Hugh pointed out, trying to sound emotionless but Alan still noticed a hint of jealousy in his nephew's voice.

"I care about you both equally." He sincerely replied because he did.

Hugh used to be his best friend since they were almost the same age but he changed after what happened with Hailey. Alan understood how he felt so he tried to help him get back on his feet but Hugh didn't want that, he wanted to walk in the footsteps of his father and Alan couldn't be friends with such a person. So, he cut all ties he had with Hugh and didn't hear from him until now.

"Quit with the act, Alan," Hugh irritatedly said.

"I'm not here for that... Your pack has something that belongs to me."

"Really? Hugh, you know that's not possible... For years now we've kept our side of the bargain."

"That's what I thought until now." Hugh gave a nod like he was trying to agree with Alan but was having a hard time doing that.

"If you're warthirsty, go find some other pack."

Alan's statement infuriated Hugh who was in no time in a half shift as his wolf was fighting to take over.

"Your beloved nephew has my mate and I want her back!" He growled surprising Alan.

"Hailey?" Alan asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"It's impossible," he said to no one in particular.

Now he understood why Hugh went as far as sending his warriors into their pack. He wanted his mate who rejected him years ago but what he couldn't understand was why Roy kept such a thing from him.

"I would ignore the death of two of my warriors if he hands over my mate," Hugh said bringing Alan out of his thoughts.

"Fine. I'll talk to him but you must promise me one thing,"

"And what might that be?"

"You'll lay low and not trespass  while I find a way to talk to Roy."

"We both know that isn't as hard as you make it sound... I'll try to keep your request but don't think I'll be patient."

Alan could understand his point as this was his mate they were talking about.

"I'll be on my way now," he said to his nephew who replied in a threatening voice.

"Do not betray me." With a final nod, Alan shifted back to his wolf form and ran back toward the pack.
