That Evening

"Will you come to the party tonight?", Tanya asked me hoping that I would say yes at least this time

"I...I don't think I can, you go without me", I said bluntly slowing removing my tie

I looked at Tanya whose face turned upset when I said I won't go. Before she could turn to go and change, the words voluntarily left my mouth,

"Fine I'll go with you, I think Karan would feel bad if I didn't go", I said and smiled when her face lit a little with happiness

I removed my sweaty work clothes and went inside the bathroom to freshen up. I splashed water on my face and looked at myself in the mirror,

[Again the same scene, again her voice playing inside my head, even after 8 years, why can't I forget her]

I took the towel to wipe my face walking out of the bathroom. I opened the closet, opening the mini-drawer and searched in between my documents. Finally, I found that piece of paper I was searching for and opened to read it.

It was her letter, the letter I got that evening when I waited for her on the bridge alone

"Jai...are you done? Jai?", I heard Tanya calling me as she walked inside our room

"No, um...just tell what should I wear?", I asked

"Oh...uh..."...she looked at me

I moved aside so she could look into the closet and tell me what to wear

"Um...why don't you wear the blue shirt and your...black jacket with it?", she said pulling out both of the things

"Fine, gimme 5 minutes", I said

"Ok, I'll do my hair till then", she said and left the room

40 minutes later,

Tanya walked out of the car and I went to park it. I saw her waiting for me outside the banquet hall and rushed towards her. It was my friend's 1-year anniversary party so the decorations were grand and beautiful. Tanya and I walked inside the banquet hall and looked around the room to complement the arrangements.

We were looking for Karan and Natasha when they came looking for us

"Hey, Tanya...", Natasha came running towards her and pulled her into a hug

"So, Tanya successfully talked you into coming here huh?", he said patting on my back

"Of course, but look at you Jai, you guys have been married for 3 years now and look at him, still young and handsome", Natasha said

"Hey...come on now, Karan is getting jealous there", Tanya said teasingly

"Guys, make yourself comfortable, and enjoy ok", saying this Karan was about to leave when Natasha pulled Tanya along with her and took her to meet the other people

I walked towards the bar to get a drink when someone patted on my back, "Jai...it's good to see here man", he said

"Aman didn't know you were back in the city", I said hugging him

We spoke for a few minutes when he said, "There's someone I want you to meet, Sanjana, can you come here, please?"

[That's a familiar name, no, it can't be her, must be someone else]

I took a sip from my glass when I saw a familiar face walking through the crowd coming straight towards us.

[It's not possible, here, after all this time]
