The King

Joseph got to his house and opened the door to see his mom waiting for him at the table with a blank but clearly angry face.

Joseph: H-Hello.

Elizabeth: Where were you?

Joseph: I got lost. I took a wrong turn and got lost.

Elizabeth: Why didn't you call me?

Joseph: Bad signal.

Elizabeth: Couldn't use a pay phone?

Joseph: Didn't have change.

Elizabeth: Couldn't use a G.P.S?

Joseph: What's a G.P.S?

Elizabeth: I can understand getting lost but how can it take two hours to recover from a wrong turn.

Joseph: Two hours?

Joseph looked at a clock and saw that it was 11:00.

Joseph: Well you see-

Elizabeth: You're grounded.

Joseph: What! C'mon this was just a simple mistake!

Elizabeth: Well don't make the mistake again.

Joseph: That doesn't make sense! A mistake is something you didn't mean to do!

Elizabeth: Three weeks.

Joseph: You can't be serious!

Elizabeth: Four weeks?

Joseph groans and walks away.

Joseph: Screw this!

Elizabeth: *Yells* That just grounded you for four weeks.

Joseph slams his door.

Joseph: That's the last time I EVER take a job that makes me stay late!

Joseph's phone buzzes. He looks and sees John had texted him.

John- Meet a the track at 3:00.

Joseph texts back.

Joseph- I can't I'm grounded.

John- Why?

Joseph- I stayed out too late.

John- Ok, I'll be at your house at three. Be ready when I get there.

Joseph- I'm not sneaking out.

John- You won't have to just set an alarm on your phone so you can wake up.

Joseph- You can do that?

John- Yes Joseph.

Joseph goes on his phone and sets an alarm.

Joseph: Woah, now I don't have to rely on screaming to wake up.

Joseph lays back on his bed and closes his eyes.

Joseph: Whatever coach is planning it better be good.

A low quality song plays on Joseph's phone and wakes him up. Joseph immediately wants to go back to sleep but knows he has to wait.

Joseph: It's 2:50. I got barely four hours.

Joseph gets out of bed.

Joseph: Why am I even doing this?

Joseph hears a knocking at the door. Joseph goes down stairs and goes to the door. He opens it and sees John.
