A Girl Worth Fighting For // Chapter Five
April 24th, 2020
1,327 words

This chapter is insanely short but that's because it's intentional. I wanted the special chapter on the next one. Just so my OCD can be satisfied with the parting. I hope you don't mind :)

᯽︎Mulan's POV᯽︎

"Wh-ah-Oom- No, this is not a good idea." Mushu stammers, "What if somebody sees you?!" I roll my eyes and sigh, "Just because I look like a man doesn't mean I have to smell like one."

I strip from my clothing and roll up the gauze on my chest as I take it off. I pull the string from my hair and look around, tapping my toe into the water.

"So a couple of guys don't rinse out their socks, picky, picky, picky. Well I, myself, kinda like that corn chip smell." Mushu shakes his hips and I ignore him, jumping into the water naked.

"Okay, all right, all right, that's enough." Mushu's voice can be heard. With my eyes covered from my hair, I can only depend on him to watch. And yet, Mushu continues, "Now, c'mon, get out before you get all pruny and stuff."

I roll my eyes, "Mushu, if you're so worried, go stand watch." Mushu mumbles something as he walks away and I begin swimming in the water, throwing my head back in delight of the coolness in the night.

For a few seconds, I enjoyed the silence and the loneliness in the lake. I would've enjoyed it longer if it weren't for the sounds of men screaming and their shouts becoming louder.

"Me first! Me first!" The familiar voice of Yao shouts. The sounds of feet slapping against mud echoed at the camp along with their boys will be boys attitude. I grab a lily pad after watching the men jump inside. Using the plant, I cover my eyes in fear of seeing anything.

Ling shouts my name, "Hey, Ling!"

I stammer, choking on my own words and gulp, "I didn't hear you guys... I was just washing. SonowI'mclean, andI'mgonnago. Bye-bye!" I quickly say, pointing out the water. Ling swims by me, "Come back here. I know we were jerks to you before, so let's start over." He raises a hand to me and I shake it gently. Only for him to swing my arm like nothing.

"Hi, I'm Ling."

"And I'm Chien Po."

I chuckle nervously and wave, "Hello, Chien Po."

"And I'm Yao! King of the Rock!" I look above me to see Yao stripped and naked, standing on the rock and leaning down to us. I gag and look away, concealing my eyes from looking anywhere I would regret.

᯽︎Your POV᯽︎

"Oh, I'm sorry, Mrs. Wang, after my nap, I wanted to take my shower so I wouln't disrupt you." The lady smiles at me, "You're fine, Y/n. I was just getting a midnight snack." I giggle and nod, "I see. I see."

"Well, I'll be heading off to bed again. Don't stay up too late, child. You have a big day starting in a few hours." I nod at Mrs. Wang's words. As she walks away into her bedroom, I walk to my temporary one.

I settle on the bed and unravel the towel at my body, putting my clothes on and flopping back onto the bed. I was finally going to sleep. FINALLY.

At least, I would've went back to bed if it weren't for my mind going straight to Ping.

Why? Why must I think about him so much? My heart aches from even thinking about him. I can't possibly like him. I don't want to like him. I don't want him distracted from me nor do I want to like him only to see him die in battle. Or him to see me die in battle.
