I read the note Miley had left on the counter that morning, the one addressed to Paul.

Paul,
I'm going to Forks with some friends. I've left Jare with Emily, you can spend the day with her. I'm sure she misses her father, and it's not fair if I keep her from her father.
Xoxo,
Miley.

Judging by how Emily was asleep on the couch, and Paul was nowhere in sight, he'd left with JJ already. It bothered me how fast Paul and Miley were coming back from this whole Rebecca thing. But it would be good for JJ, right?

I spotted Embry outside. He cupped his hands together and howled. He was accompanied by Brady and Collin, both new members of the pack.

I did the howl back and waved. "Have either of you seen Paul?"

"He's out with Seth and Leah," Brady told me. "He's got JJ with him too. Embry was ready to tag along too."

I'd forgotten that Emb had imprinted on Jare, no one ever really spoke of it. Miley had accepted it, so Paul learned to accept it too.

"Shut up, Brady." Embry mumbled.

"Shut up, Brady," Brady mimicked Embry in a high-pitched tone that sounded like Alvin the Chipmunk.

"You let him get a hold of helium again, didn't you?" I asked.

Collin shook his head. 'Embry did,' he mouthed.

Brady laughed as he sucked the helium out of a balloon. "Don't be mad, bruh!"

"Embry Call, I am going to kill you!" Miley tackled Embry to the ground. "Why would you let Brady touch a balloon filled with helium!?"

"Because he sounds like Alvin?" Embry suggested weakly.

"Miles, why do you smell like Esme and Rosalie?" I asked.

"Because I was just at the Cullen estate." She said, like it was obvious. "I went to go visit Jake. I ended up having a chat with Rose and Esme."

Why did everyone seem to like the Cullens? Sam, Seth, Jake, Embry, Brady, Collin, and a few other newcomers all liked the Cullens. It felt like I was the only one who didn't like them.

"Oh." I went back inside and laid down on the couch that used to hold Emily. I drifted off into a hazy sleep, in which no dreams came.

Sorry for the crazy short chapter. I'm tired and exhausted, and I have more homework to do. Good evening/morning/afternoon, ya filthy animals.
(Sorry, I just finished watching Home Alone)
