the young boy stomped in the puddles, sprinting as fast as he could while trying to catch up to the boat bill made for him.

georgie laughed in joy as he was experiencing great fun. he had noticed an orange road barrier, and ducked underneath.

not noticing the second one, he bumped his head on the top of it, falling down on his bottom, having it soaked.

the boy rubbed his head and stood back up, running even faster as the paper boat was now a while ahead of him.

he had almost gotten neck and neck with the boat when it had fallen down a sewer drain on the edge of a sidewalk.

"no!" georgie shouted dramatically, kneeling down to see if he could find his boat. "bill's gonna kill me." he said to himself, frowning.

he waited for a moment, when a pair of bright yellow eyes appeared in the darkness of the gutter. this made georgie shout and jump back, startled.

it stepped forward to reveal its smile, making the yellow irises fade to blue, like an illusion.

a clown.

"hiya, georgie!" it greeted, holding up georgie's paper boat. "what a nice boat! do you want it back?" it asked.

georgie hesitated. "um, yes please." he answered with hope. the clown lowered the waxed piece of folded paper.

"you look like a nice boy." it changed the subject, not breaking his smile. "i bet you have a lot of friends." it assumed.

georgie looked confused. "three.. but my brother's my best best." he claimed. the clown tilted his head.

"where's he?" it questioned. georgie sighed.

"in bed. sick." he huffed sadly.

"i bet i can cheer him up. i'll give him a ballon." it suggested. "do you want a ballon too, georgie?" it asked, making georgie not feel left out.

georgie raised an eyebrow. "i'm not supposed to take stuff from strangers." he explained, giving the clown a suspicious glare.

it chuckled. "oh, well i'm pennywise the dancing clown!" it introduced, putting emphasis on 'dancing' by shaking his head rapidly. "pennywise, yes, meet georgie. georgie, meet pennywise." it acted, making georgie laugh.

"there. now we aren't strangers, are we?" it told.

georgie stayed silent. "what are you doing in the sewer?" he asked finally, cringing at the stench of the clown from being in there.

"the storm blew me away." it claimed. "it blew the whole circus away." it giggled, having its smile fade after.

"can you smell the circus georgie?" it asked. georgie sniffed the air. "there's peanuts, cotton candy, hot dogs, and?" it trivialized, holding the 'n' in 'and'.

georgie took a moment to think. "popcorn?" he replied hesitantly. the clown smiled proudly.

"popcorn! because they POP. pop pop!" he started, having georgie join in on him. they both laughed loudly for a few seconds before the clown growled quietly and grew a straight face.

georgie frowned. "um, i should get going now." he told the clown, having it snap back into reality.

"oh, uh, without your boat?" it spoke, holding the boat back up. "you don't wanna lose if georgie. bill's gonna kill you." it said.

"here. take it." it permitted georgie, making the boy begin to reach down for his paper boat, sticking his tongue out in concentration.

the clown pulled it back teasingly, making georgie stumble a bit before reaching in again. the clown kept smiling before it eventually grabbed georgies arm, pulling him down.

it growled as it opened its mouth to reveal rows of sharp teeth. georgie began to scream, but it was no use. the clown had bit his arm off its hinges.

georgie screamed and cried, crawling away slowly from the sewer drain, his bloody nub dragging painfully on the cement.

he was dragged back. he screamed louder, but it was as if nobody could hear him.

"billy!" he shouted one last time before being pulled completely into the gutter.
