Hello!! I just want to say a few things before I start. First of all, all art is NOT mine. so credit goes to the original artist. Second of all this prologue is from the ending of the warrior's book; "Twilight".  so it's not all me.  I just decided to have it as a prologue, because it takes place right before this story.  so if you recognize that the prologue is a lot like the ending of "twilight"..that's because it is.  so credit goes to Erin hunter. anyway, I hope you enjoy the story, the characters are the same.  and this takes place sorta during "the sight."

and in between "Leafpools wish" so basically it takes place after she has her kits.  before they are made apprentices.  you know how starting in "The Sight"  Jayfeather, Hollyleaf and Lionblaze are almost apprentices.  pretend that they are sorta newborn. so after "Leafpools Wish" kinda.  sorry, I know that's confusing.  thank you for reading.  ill post more soon.  😊

"Nooooo!" the Brown she-cat pushed her nose deep into her mentor's fur.

"It wasn't her time to join Starclan" the she-cat cried as she looked down at her dead mentor. a few moments later she felt a warm pelt brush against her side. Standing right next to her was a dark smokey-gray, almost black, tom.

"I'm sorry," The tom murmured, his blue eyes gazing into hers. "I know what she meant to you." He mewed sympathetically.

"She taught me everything and now she's gone," The she-cat wailed. "I trusted Spottedleaf. She told me to follow my heart, But she knew my mentor was going to die! How could she do that?"

The smokey-gray tom pressed closer to the she-cat and drew his tongue over her face and ears with gentle, comforting strokes. "You did follow your heart", he meowed. " Your heart told you to come home. You could never be happy away from your Clan."

The tabby turned her head slowly, pain glistened in his blue eyes and now her heart filled with sadness "But what about you?" she managed to choke out.

The tom lowered his head. "Your heart lies here," he whispered, tears filling his eyes. "Not with me. It was never truly with me"

The brown tabby felt torn. For a few heartbeats, she leaned into him, feeling his warmth and strength for the last time. Part of her still wishing they were still together in the forest. But she knew he was right; She loved him, but not enough. She had to take care of her Clan. They could never be together.
