Two Stars (Leafpool and Mothwing fanfic)

Chapter 5- L-love?

"Mew!" Felix padded around his Twoleg mewing at the door.  The Twoleg picked him up and stroked his sleek, groomed fur.  she put him down and opened the door for him.  Finally!  Felix padded out the door and headed for the fence.   He stopped in his tracks when he sensed another cat nearby. He lifted his muzzle and let the sent wash his tongue. He padded closer and spotted a large golden tabby she-cat, frantically walking in circles beside the fence.  He came a little closer and the golden tabby stopped and turned to face him. 

Felix leaped over to her, Landing gracefully beside her, and began circling around her in curiosity.   He sniffed the golden tabby not recognizing her sent but smelled badger on her.

He tilted his head to the side. "You're not from around here, are you?" he asked her

The she-cat flicked her tail narrowing her amber eyes.  "No, I'm not."

Felix nodded his head, still starring at her. why does she smell like a badger? Felix wondered. then he immediately recognized her as the cat he saved from the badger. He came a little closer noticing something in her sunny colored eyes.  The large tabby seemed like something was bothering her. He should introduce himself, maybe he can find out what's bothering her.

"I'm  Felix, what's your name?" the muscular kittypet smiled warmly and flicked his tail curiously.

Felix stepped into the moonlight so the she-cat could see him better.  His collar shined brightly in the light and he puffed out his chest.

The golden tabby starred at him annoyed "I'm Mothwing," she lashed her tail and perked her ears, her eyes secretive, seeming to be hiding something.

Felix, still studying Mothwing, nodded his head.  He then noticed how nervous Mothwing was.  Was she ok? He frowned, wondering what was wrong.

Mothwing looked at him, her eyes round." what's wrong?" She mewed curiously.

Felix knew he was fine, but the golden tabby wasn't. He shook his head knowingly.

"No, I should be asking you what's wrong." He looked at Mothwing, wanting to know what was bothering the pretty she-cat.

The golden tabby seemed shocked at his comment and avoided his gaze "What do you mean, I'm fine." She protested, but her mew was small and bleak.

Felix knew better than that. 

 "Mothwing...I know there is something bothering you, I know more than you think." he meowed.  And he meant it.

All his life, Feliz was an understanding kittypet, he helped cats whether they wanted him to or not.  He had a way of noticing when something was wrong.  It was a gift.  And right now, he needed to use his gift, to help Mothwing.

Mothwing backed away slowly. Felix came closer, his paws steady. He knew that Mothwing needed to tell some cat about her problems.

Mothwing starred at him. 

Felix gave her a look, a reassuring look.  and at last, Mothwing sighed, "ok, I'll tell you."

Felix looked at her happily. "And I'll listen" The kittypet flicked his tail as if he was signaling the she-cat to follow him-which she did.

They walked to the front of his house, where there was a cover, so the rain wouldn't bother them.  

Mothwing talked for a long time.  at first, she was hesitant, but then she opened up.

Mothwing told Felix all about the Clans, how the clans worked, and how cats could not fall in love with cats from other clans. Mothwing also told him that she wasn't clan born.   And soon, Felix knew all about the clans and the warrior code.

Mothwing's eyes flashed towards the forest then right back at Felix.  "And each clan has its own Medicine cat." 

Felix nodded slowly looking right at her big beautiful Amber eyes. 

Mothwing looked at Felix warmly. "I'm the medicine cat of RiverClan, and Littlecloud is the medicine cat of ShadowClan."  Mothwing smiled as she went on. " And a cat called Barkface is the medicine cat of WindClan.."  Mothwing paused.

Felix tilted her head remembering that there were 4 Clans.  what was the other clan called..lightingClan..no..ThunderClan! that was it!   "who is the medicine cat of ThuderClan?", Felix wondered aloud.

Mothwing looked a bit shocked at his question but proceeded. "Her name is Leafpool", Mothwing smiled.  " She welcomed me to the Clans...she helped me and kept my secret of not believing in StarClan.",  The golden she-cat shuffled her paws.  " we became great friends and she accepts me!"  

Felix listened to this carefully and oddly found himself a little jealous of Leafpool, But he continued to listen to what Mothwing was saying.

" I keep thinking about Leafpool," Mothwing told him.  "I sometimes find myself wishing we were in the same Clan.."  Mothwing paused. "But I belong with RiverClan."  

Felix cocked his head to the side.  Her eyes light up when she talks about Leafpool, he noticed.  He smiled.  Mothwing flicked her tail as if saying she wasn't done. Felix nodded.

"Tonight Leafpool told me that she had kits and that she has to keep it a secret.." Mothwing's fur bristled.  "At first I felt lost betrayed, but when I almost lost her to that badger...I realized that I didn't know what I would do if lost her..I realized how much she means to me" Mothwing breathed.  

Felix understood at once.  He starred at Mothwing for a moment and smiled. "Mothwing..", he nodded towards the forest. "do you you want  to keep feeling this way?"  He noticed Mothwing's amber eyes were now round with shock.

"i-i don't know..", Mothwing admitted.

Felix looked at her with doubt. Did Mothwing think he couldn't tell that she was in love? His ears twitched and he took a step forward. "Mothwing..", Felix brushed his tail against her cheek lightly. Mothwing's fur smoothed and her eyes were calm.  "it's ok to love her", Felix soothed.

Mothwing's eyes went round again. "L-love her?"

Felix nodded. "Mothwing, you came to me with something bothering you."  Felix flicked his tail.  "The only thing that was bothering you, was that you didn't know what you were feeling." He paused trying to find his words.  " Mothwing..you love Leafpool."
