George drove recklessly and speedily out of Aberystwyth, taking his anger out on the road. He checked the time on the church clock as he streaked past. It was going up for three. It took a good seven or eight hours to drive back to London, and that was counting on him not getting lost again. Should get in about elevenish, he thought.

He checked the rear view mirror. The little Welsh town was rapidly disappearing behind him. He felt restless but tried to ignore it, putting his foot down. If he made some time up on these quiet country roads then he’d be able to compensate for the busier towns and cities.

Stupid cow. I need her like a hole in the head. He opened the window a crack and felt the rush of air blowing his hair.
