Chapter 61: Volume Up
Adeline

Fixing my pillow, I sit at my window and look outside, watching as Easton walks into his room.

"Hey, baby-"

"Hi, Adeline!" Hana pushes in front of him at wiggles her eyebrows, calling out to me.

"Hi guys."

"What were you doing?" The two of them as before looking at one another, smiling.

"Eating. And you?"

Easton takes his earbuds out before moving in front of Hana, shooing her away.

"We were watching tv."

Hana starts making funny faces behind him and I laugh, making Easton turn his head.

"I said to leave."

"It's 8:30, where am I supposed to go?"

"To your bed. Don't make me call your mom."

"You wouldn't dare." She stresses, walking away from the window to block the door.

"Then bye." Easton turns back to me and grins, running a hand through his hair. "Sorry."

Easton puts his leg over the window frame before climbing out, his legs dangling outside.

A water droplet falls and we look up, a few more following shortly after.

A boom sound catches our attention and I flinch, pressing my lips together.

"Are you okay? It's just rain." He laughs as it starts pouring, his pants getting wet quickly.

"I'm fine."

A streak of light flashes and I shriek, almost falling off the seat.

"Is Kaleb home?"

"Nope. He's with Sasha."

My boyfriend nods as he climbs back inside, resting his arms on the window frame. "Would you like me to come over."

"You d-don't have to." I stutter, breathing deeply.

"It wasn't a question. I'll be there soon."

"And this, drowns the noise out."

"I know what head phones do." I mutter, allowing him to put the headphones over my ears.

Easton presses sound on his phone before instrumental music begins to play through the headphones.

"Better?" He questions while throwing the blanket over our bodies, laying down on his back.

He changes the video on his phone to an asmr video and watches it, me hearing all the sounds.

Turning on my side, I examine Easton's face.

He looks so at peace, it's weird.

His lips part slightly as he looks at me from the corner of his eyes, smirking before looking away again. His face tints as he mutters something to me, not making eye contact.

"You can hear me?"

"Yes, sir."

Easton changes the video again and turns the volume up, the music blasting in my ears.

"Now can you hear me?" He mouths and I make out a few words, his voice wasn't completely audible.

I shake my head no before closing my eyes, tired of looking at his face now.

"I love you, jagiya."

Oh, well that I heard.

When we were younger, I guess you could say I was infatuated with him. Things were simple.

Me and him together.

We got older and all feelings were pushed to the back of our heads, I don't like talking about love like that.

I love my brother. I love my parents, despite their absence. And with Easton, the feeling feels a lot better.

Now more than ever.

It may be too soon to say this and I may sound ridiculous.

But, I love him too.

"Goodnight, Easton."
