Chapter Three
I didn't stick around for the rest of the night.
I stood in my living room after Ryder left to join my family for cake, unbelievably pissed off. I kicked off my heels where I stood and snuck past the kitchen, sneaking down the hallway to the front door. I unlocked the front door and breathed in the cool night air. It was a bit chilly, but I wasn't phased, my body was so heated from anger. I darted up the stone walkway of my house and ran across the still road, jogging into the woods; I flinched at the sudden pain that my bare feet endured as I ran across branches and leaves.
As I picked up acceleration, I was ready to let my wolf out. She was aching to be freed; desperately wanting to run.
I didn't even take in to consideration my expensive party dress as I morphed into my beautiful white wolf. I squeezed my eyes shut as I listened to tearing of the seams on my dress, and I watched as the shreds swiftly landed on the ground. My wolf darted off, howling into the night, digging her paws into the soft earth as she ran.
I didn't think about where I was going, and quite frankly I didn't care. I felt that the further I ran the easier it was to breathe, and rationally think about things other than burning Ryder to a crisp. The cold night air whipped my thick fur in all directions. I ran straight, not taking any turns or anything, not trying to change my direction, just kept running straight.
Eventually, I ended up in a clearing. It was small and flat and illuminated by the moon's light. I huffed out a tired breath; I needed rest so I could put ease to my overwhelming thoughts. I dragged my wolf body into the clearing and patted around for a soft spot before curling up into a ball and nuzzling my face underneath my paws.
I closed my eyes, shutting out the world.

'Cassie!'
'Cassie!'
My eyes fluttered open and my head lifted. I was still in the clearing. I looked around to see if there was anyone around me, and then I realized it was my wolf talking to me.
'It's good to know you're still alive.' She told me. I swear if I'm in wolf form she never let's me do anything. It's ridiculous. I rolled my eyes and laid my head back down. She was so irritating.
'Irritating? Watch it, I'll give you irritating.'
'Sorry', I thought back.
'Wake up! She urged. I smell something. It's so sweet and alluring. We must go to it!
'Why? How important must it be?' I thought.
'Very! Now come! Up, up!'
My wolf forced my body up and I stretched my body before casually walking off. I couldn't smeel anything. All I could smell was pine and...animal excrement.
'What am I supposed to be looking for?'
'You'll know when you smell it.' She answered happily.
