Tabby~

A Tabby is a cat with a distinctive coat pattern with stripes, dots, lines or swirl patterns. Tabby cats can come in several colours, but most commonly shades of grey, black and brown. There are four main types of Tabby cat:

-Mackerel Tabby: A coat with thin vertical stripes down the sides of its coat, more commonly referred to as 'tiger stripes'. 

-Classic Tabby: A coat with a thick swirling stripes down the sides of its coat. 

-Ticked Tabby: A coat with stripes that are broken up into tiny small fragments, more commonly referred to as a 'salt and pepper appearance'. 

-Spotted Tabby: A coat with stripes that are broken up into smaller fragments which resemble spots.

Tortoiseshell~

A Tortoiseshell is a cat with with a distinctive mottled coat pattern with patches of colour. It is usually found on female cats, but it can very rarely be seen on male cats as well. There are three main types of Tortoiseshell: 

Tortoiseshell / Tortie: A coat with patches of orange or cream and brown, black or blue. 

Tortoiseshell-And-White / Calico: A coat which is primarily white, with a mix of red and brown patches. 

Tortie-Tabby / Torbie / Caliby: A coat with the the colouring of a Tortoiseshell, but also with the pattern of a Tabby.
