"shut up." tracy laughed. he took his hands off my eyes. "okay, open."
i slowly opened my eyes and started in front of me in shock. "i..."
"lillian, i missed you." gus smiled at me.
"you're..."
"came home, tracy told me you got out of the hospital."
i nodded. "i... i attempted..."
"yeah." gus got up from the couch and hugged me.
"you're here."
"i am." he kissed my hair. "thank you tracy, for taking care of her. i owe you."
"it's no problem, she's my friend."
"i missed my best friend." gus mumbled. "don't ever do that again."
"gus..."
"can't lose you. i can't even imagine it."
"gus..."
"no, shh. i'm here, i'll take care of you, i've got you, love." he did a slight nod at tracy, who left.
"i..." i started sobbing and collapsed, but he caught me. "i'm useless."
"no, you're not." he led me to the couch. i sat in his lap and buried my face in his neck, crying uncontrollably. "you're not useless, you're my best friend, you're my reason to live, i can't just leave you, okay? i need you."
"get a better best friend."
"nah." he stroked my hair. "only you."
"gus..."
"stop crying, i wanna tell you something."
after a few more minutes of sniffling and crying, i stopped. "y-yeah?"
"we're gonna do something fun tomorrow."
