Prologue

"Lukey, what's it like to be in other countries?"

"It's like sleeping and dreaming about it but instead, it's real," he said.

I leaned on his shoulder as we both looked up at the sky. It was about past 12 midnight already but we chose to stay out on the playground, where we became officially together about 2 years ago. Right now, we're both not sure if we're together. It doesn't matter because since we love each other to the bones, we don't even have to worry about it anymore.

"You're leaving... again," I sighed. "I'm going to become a lost puppy without you."

"Oh come on, Stell," Luke said, rubbing my back. "You're stronger than that and I love you, so don't worry."

"I love you too, you know," I said. "... But these thoughts, Luke."

"What is it?"

"You do know that in time, everything will change," I said. "It's inevitable Lucas."

"You will always be the pessimistic Stella Mead I know," Luke said, pinching my nose.

"It's still true," I said, sighing.

"You know what, here," Luke said, removing a ring from his pinky. He slipped it on my pinky and held my hand. "That's yours now. I want you to remember that I will always be with you and I won't stop loving you. I never did anyway."

I restrained myself from crying because it's their last day here. I'm also keeping Luke up when he's supposed to be sleeping already. My fingers were shaking at the thought of him leaving again. This will be hard for me to let go. He's hard to let go.

"Stella, it's going to be okay," Luke said, playing with his lip ring. "It will."

"I hope so, Luke," I sighed. "But I'm still afraid that the day will come when we'll be close as strangers."

"It won't come," Luke said. "I promise."

is this serious? is this the actual sequel of "Beside You"?

well, yes. Merry Christmas everyone! i thought that maybe posting this would be my christmas gift to the people who want a sequel (neck) deep inside. also, i'm really happy to know that i'm really doing this this time.
