Topics of the mind map are as follows...

Starting off, immersion, practicing, daily goals, and speaking

Starting off:

- Find an app for learning languages (for you guys it will be an app for English)

- Listen to music in English

- Write vocabulary/ new words down in a notebook. This will help you know what some words mean (almost like a dictionary) if some words do not make sense... look them up or watch a video for clarification (clarification means to make sure you understand something properly almost like to be sure)

- Take a course at a school or in your community that either teaches you a task or teaches you the language, so in time English will get easier.

- Meeting native English speakers is important! Even if people do not necessarily want to help you learn the language it still helps that you are communicating in some form with someone else in the language you want to learn.

Immersion:

+ If you are in school and they offer trips be sure to take advantage of that if you are able to. (Being able to travel and experience real-life situations and the interactions in other countries in general is important)

+ Go out in public and find a group that is going to help you improve your English. Such as a sport or an activity group. Every little bit counts trust me.

+ Look for an English speaking job. I know in some countries English is very important, and if you know English maybe you will earn more money. In the long run, it will help you and your family.

+ **If you become very immersed in the language and it becomes easy for you then take that as an opportunity to help others. By helping someone else learn you are enhancing your skills and allowing them to learn as well.

Practicing:

Practice every single day! (You do not have to do the same thing every time you practice though)

           Some ways you can practice...

                = Pronunciation

                = Speaking

                = Flashcards

                = Music (singing the words)

= Watching a show with or without subtitles (I did learn that when you watch a show in a different language be sure to have the subtitles in that language unless you are very new. What happens is that instead of trying to focus on what the show is saying we read the subtitles and it does not help us comprehend and grow in the language we want to grow in)

= Find a game but switch the language this allows you to read and understand. It can be fun as well since it is a game that you probably like

= Reading language learning books or kids books (if you do get a language learning book try to buy one that allows you to write on the lines and check your answers in the back of the book. If you are able to check your spelling and grammar and sentence set up it will help!!)

Daily Goals:

~ Learn a couple more words

    ~ Understand new concepts

~ Learn some more verbs or vocabulary (also called vocab)

~ Read a couple more pages of a book

    ~ Find new music

~ Watch language learning videos on YouTube

~ If you have a whiteboard or something you write daily plans on try to write your plans in English. It may sound weird but you will be thinking and practicing English.

~ Say some sentences in English or things you are doing such as, I am cooking some food right now. I have to go to the store. My friend is coming over today I am excited. (Little sentences that can help you speak and pronounce words)

Speaking:

*Speaking comes with lots of practice!*

If you can't communicate with someone face to face then audio messages are the way to go. There is an app called hellotalk. On that app you can meet people and correct each other by either typing or even in audio messages. Sometimes people build friendships on there which is really great! Go ahead and try it out.

* If you are in school try to talk to an English teacher and see if that helps. If worse comes to worse you can repeat sentences back to an app if these other speaking techniques do not work. In the end you and pronouncing words.

* Learning about the culture and history of different places can help. The main reason is because you are reading, seeing, interacting, visiting, traveling, etc.  This can make learning a language fun because you are growing in the language plus learning new facts and enjoying the interactions which can make it interesting and increases the "want" in learning the language.

Lastly, BE A SPONGE!! LEARNING NEVER STOPS! You can always learn more things each and every single day. If you are fluent try to look into something that interests you in English. Follow some people on social media and take your language journey to new heights. I believe in all of you!!!
