Cold was the night. It was dark, only the full moon's light illuminated the place.

A girl, H/C-colored hair and E/C-colored eyes, was running through the thick forest on her bare feet. Her hair would be caught up in low branches, tall bushes would block her way and she would stumble down by large roots, yet she didn't stop. The adrenaline pumping through her veins kept her moving, kept her moving away from him.

Strange glimmering-tears started to flood in her eyes as she remembered her parents scream, her brothers yelp and her baby sister cry. The horrifying scenes played in her mind once again. She witnessed how the boy that carries the last name Zoldyck murder her whole family.

Now, he's coming for her.

The night was getting darker as dark clouds started to cover the night sky. Wiping the tears that blurred her eyesight, she realized that she was running straight towards a humongous tree. With a hitched breath and a pounding heart, she made a stop, catching her breath oblivious to the fact that the boy was watching her from above, just standing at a branch.

"This girl..." the silver-haired boy that goes by the name Killua Zoldyck thought. He has this great opportunity and time to kill his target, his target that was growing tired of running, but for some reason he wanted the girl to live.

As the cold wind blew, he rustled the leaves beside him, loudly, giving the H/C-haired girl below a warning.

The said girl stood instinctively and looked above the tree before running once again. He followed her from above, jumping from branch to branch as quiet as possible.

Her running came to an end as she exited the thick forest and met a cliff. Looking below, she just knew, she wouldn't survive the jump and she also knew that she wouldn't survive if she stayed there.

Crouching at the branch, the young Zoldyck watched her as she weighed her options. And he weighed his options with her, as well. And as he did, he couldn't help but reminisce some memories.

For some reason, he felt attracted to the young lady just by observing her for the past two months. It was a strange feeling. And he described it as the desire to protect her. The young Zoldyck never really knew why, but subconsciously, he sees himself in her. They were similar in some terms. Trapped, controlled, and alone.

But he clenched his fist as he remembered his Illumi's order. "Kill all L/N, specially the girl. She may be ordinary but she worth a hundred million jenny. I'm counting on you, Kil." And he just had to obey.

"Shit." the boy couldn't help but curse. "She's just a girl," he thought, "just a girl. You can find many other girls better than her." he encouraged himself. And that's when his dark side took over.

He appeared before her and he could see through her eyes, unimaginable fear. A scream almost escaped her mouth as her life flashed before her eyes and she just knew, it's the end of the line. She wanted to jump off the cliff but her body was frozen solid in the place with great fear. She had no choice but to sit there and wait for her death.

The sky flashed, enabling the girl to see his murderer. The boy, silver-haired and blue eyes, certain features that from now on she wouldn't forget. That was, if she ever live. Followed by a roar of thunder, heavy rain started to pour, together with the tears that she's been holding in for so long.

"So it's true," he said, "you really do cry pure silver."

Although, the image was dark and blurry, she could see his murderer raise his hand up with nails like knives, preparing for taking away her life.

"Sadly, it'll just go to waste."

Probably that'll be the last statement that she'll hear as his hand went straight for her heart. Closing her eyes, she waited for the pain, for the pain that never came. Slowly, she opened her eyes and was surprised that her murderer stopped halfway from taking away her heart. The young man had just realized, "I can't do it after all."

She cried even more.

"Why did you stop?!" she shouted. "Just end my freaking life!"

He flinched, not expecting that to hear from her. Even the girl, herself was surprised. Yes, she was really frightened but she also wanted to end all of this.

He retrieved his hand and lowered his head, now his bangs covered his eyes. "Are you not thankful that I had spared your life?"

"I'm tired." she whispered but loud enough for him to hear through the pouring rain. "I'm really tired." and more tears came falling down her cheeks. "I'm sick of my life! I'm sick of being different!"

She cried. For all her life she'd been locked up in their mansion for she was different, something rather expensive than being special.

The silver-haired guy stared at her and after some moment he knelt down in front of the young lady, saying, "I know how it feels." he hugged the crying girl, bringing her close to him. "But death isn't just the right way to end the pain. You still have a lot of time," he stated, still embracing her tight, "a lot of time to find your purpose of living."

"Like me, I've just found my purpose in life," he added, "and it's to protect you from now on and forever." he whispered.
