I let out a sigh as I look back over to the trees and watch the other cadets on the branches. Sucks that not many of them will make it but it's probably for the better. What time is it anyways we've been here almost all day and i'm starting to get kind of hungry. I let out a sigh as I feel sweat roll down my forehead. I wipe it off as a small girl lands next to me. She seems to almost lose her balance but catches herself. She seems to be shaking, even though they aren't real titans she still seems frightened.
"It's not that bad you know." I say attempting to sound friendly
"Easy for you to say." She states looking down at the ground from over the branch before looking at me. "You're one of the best cadets here."
I extend my hand out to the girl with a sly smile and introduce myself. She tells me her name and I tell her a few tips that have helped me out. She thanks me with a large smile before jumping back in to 'fight' the wooden titans. I wait a few seconds taking in the sounds and the light breeze. I close my eyes before stepping over the branch but instead of falling I'm pulled back onto the branch by the back of my shirt.
"Thought you weren't a people person?"
"Sir, you're interrupting my training." I continue to face forward watching the other cadets fly around as Levi is still holding on to my shirt.
"You're one of the fastest brats out here you know..." There's a small pause, "You're also one of the most skilled, up against Mikasa."
"What are you getting at, sir?" My annoyance levels slowly rising.
"I was just saying. Don't fall cadet." He says before pushing me off the branch.
I sigh as I make my way towards another branch slicing the nape of a 'titan' in the process. Highly unnecessary for him to push me off. Training comes to an end and we head back to HQ sweat dripping from their foreheads ready to eat and go to bed. As I head to the dining hall along with the other cadets the girl from training comes up to me.
"Hey (y/n), I just wanted to thank you for helping me out at training."
"You already did," I try not to sound too annoyed.
"It really helped me out. I think I became a lot faster out there." She says with a smile and a hint of excitement in her voice. I turn to face her and place a hand on her head patting it gently.
"Good for you kid," With a small supportive smile I walk to the table I usually sit at. I hear the girl talking about me to her friends. I let out a scoff knowing I didn't really help her much and simply encouraged her. I finish my dinner and head back to my room ready to shower and go to bed.
"You know, I really wanted you to scream back there," He says walking behind me.
"I bet," I say, rolling my eyes. "What can I do for you,Captain?"
"(y/n), why are you here? Why are you going through all of this? What for?" His voice flat as he looks down at me now that he's caught up.
"Why's it matter? I'm here and I seem to be doing pretty good." I arrive at my room and I lean up against the door.
"Tch- " He looks at me quizzically then walks away. "50 laps tomorrow morning for the attitude." I scoff and he stops and turns around. "I heard that cadet. 100 laps now."
"Yes, sir" I turn around and start walking towards the doors that lead outside his eyes still on my back. I smile as I feel the warm sun and watch it slowly set. I start running trying to get as many laps in as fast as possible. The sun has now set and i'm halfway done. I bring my running down to a jog to try and catch my breath. If I ran anymore I might have passed out. Then the captain would have me run 200 laps while i'm still unconscious. The thought makes me roll my eyes. I finish my laps and head inside.
I finally head to the showers and stop at my room to grab my clothes. On my way back from the cold shower I make a mental note not to shower before they turn the hot water off. I have my towel wrapped around my (h/c) hair as I dry it, rubbing the towel between my hands. I feel eyes on me and I quickly turn around only to see a shadow that quickly disappears. I slowly turn around to find no one in front of me and head back to my room. I let out a sigh as I lay down in my bunk, my roommate already fast asleep. I close my eyes and let my thoughts drown in the darkness.
