Tzuyu and Mingyu's family have always had a good relationship with each other. Tzuyu and Mingyu often played by the ocean which was that result of their tan skin. They spent more time together as they grew up and tzuyu moved to Korea right before middle school started and trained as a trainee under JYPE since Mingyu was also a trainee. But one day they got in a huge fight which resulted in some blood, they never saw each other since then.
This is where jungkook comes in. As tzuyu was walking to school the shy jungkook procrastinated on whether he should ask her for her number or not. Before he knew it, he followed her to school. Tzuyu felt like someone was following her so she looked back and saw jungkook reaching for her shoulder. Tzuyu shouted and said that he was a theif, he later explained and asked her for her number, she agreed. They've been keeping in touch since then.
