' ' What is this . . ? ' ' An orange-haired girl breathed out, as she gripped her tiny hands around the cold metal bars of a gate.

' ' I don't remember coming in through there . . . ' ' Another child was seen peeking behind the curious girl, a new member of the Grace Field Orphanage.

Their intuition telling them to take their new siblings and run. But they knew more about the others, they couldn't stop the bright little girl if they tried.

' ' It's a gate. ' ' Another voice replied, sounding quite monotonous as the [ H/c ] had the reflexes to defend themselves from whoever was behind.

' ' It connects the inside and outside ' '

The child stopped their raised fist, quite shocked at themselves for such a reaction. The spiky black-haired boy that was the supposed 'target', looked to his quiet friend questioningly. The latter gave a sheepish smile, gently lowering her defensive stance as blood rushed to their face in embarrassment.

' ' Outside, huh? ' ' Gathering the attention of both quiet children as they looked back at their bright-minded friend to listen.

' ' We've never been outside ' '

The [ E/c ] eyes pupils narrowed, finding that sentence particularly worrisome. A gut feeling of theirs that made it hard to know why they had such a negative response.

' ' That's because we've been here, ever since we were born ' ' A softer voice chimed in, the speaker being a skinny boy with pure white hair and an almost unreadable, gentle expression.

Thankfully, the boy made sure he was noticed before taking a few steps closer, putting a comforting hand on the [ H/c ]'s shoulder. The boy gave a soft smile as he saw the eyes of the child in question meet his oceanic blue orbs, seeing that his presence had made his friend calm down.

' ' Mum always tells us, doesn't she? ' ' The orange-haired girl smiled, her body jumping up a bit as she looked between her friends and the gate.

' ' ' Don't go near the fence or the gate in the back of the forest, because it is dangerous ' ' '
The phrase was said almost mockingly, but you can't conclude a person's own thoughts with an opinion of your own.

Honestly, the way their Mama always said it was almost threatening. The [ E/ c ] coloured eyes of [ Y/n ] shut tight in anxiousness, they were always so unsettled by their Mother. But they make excuses with every alarming action they find.

' ' Maybe she's . . . ' '

' ' That's obviously a lie ' ' The blunt statement of the monotonous boy cut the timid child off with their own sentence, but they could care less as they wanted an explanation behind the male's words.

[ Y/n ] couldn't help but have an unwanted feeling in their chest, nothing serious.

' ' Really . . ? ' ' The two voices of children sounded out the same phrase, only the brighter child being heard as it would seem.

More uncomfortable emotions flowed down into their chest again, what was it?

' ' Hey Ray! ' ' A hum of acknowledgement was heard from the dark-green eyed boy, as he awaited a question from his optimistic friend.
